Movie time

Just to see Café Society yesterday, how lovely it is.

The near-end part of the story makes me think a little bit about “society”. The gangster brother got caught, sentenced to death for what he had did. Yet the younger brother with help from some friends took over the club and propelled it.

It could not happen here.

Being a good director is really less about the technical side [and more about who you have working with you], having a keen eye for that and knowing how to utilize the people around you well. You need a clear vision, for both sound and image, and to be able to communicate this vision well to others. The professionals will take care of realizing the technical side of things. For example, I’ll say something like, “I’d like this scene to be somewhat milky and unclear.” The DP will figure out what filter to use, the lighting, and so on. It doesn’t sound like it’s too hard, but in reality there are a lot of directors who don’t have visions.

Technology is embedded into everything now, no industry left untouched—there’s money to be made, new empires to be created!—and that process is long, slow, repetitive. Not Bond Again

Another 007 season, but with this one, Bond should be re-born again.

The opening is great, dead people, dead city, dead spirit, pretty much Bond's style. But then, it goes slowly, boring, fading in typical villain vs hero actions. Even with the duel, Moriatty and Hans Landa, I cannot feel the fear and neither should Bond. The song sucks either.

Nevertheless, we should honour the death, as only death brings us life. I am ready to see a fresh new Bond.

I do think she's better than most of her “comrades" with the same rank, even with the “coming soon" Major title, but I still could not like the idea to mess military whatever-it-is with citizen's life.

Side note: her title makes me think of Major Motoko Kusanagi

Sleep deprivation

My grandma told me that she awoke at 2am last night and she couldn’t sleep again. I joked “wow you have been excited about tomorrow trip to the country land”.“why not, I’m coming back to my mother-town, of course I could not sleep”, she answered. 

I forgot she loves her hometown that much.

A new chapter

I started a new chapter of my life today, to become what I’ve shown no interest for years. It also reminds me of the old-school, literally, since I would ride the same road 15 years ago.

As hard as it always be, and as old as it was, new chapter starts with “bánh-mee" for lunch. This for sure would shape me a different, brighter future.
