The Cannabis Road Show heads to GermanyâŠ
In Middle Tennessee, it continues to be moist from a plethora of recent hard rains. Meanwhile the Cicadas are here in force and their constant hum fills the background, which after a while you kind of get use to. Well, this morning, The Old Hemp Farmer is enjoying a great cup of Indonesian coffee and vaping some Tennessee homegrown flower thatâs quite tasty. This morningâs Cannabis topic pertains to the fact that recently the wonderful country of my birth, Germany legalized Recreational Cannabis. For those folks that donât travel or pay attention to Europe, this is a big deal. Germany is the most populous country in the World to legalize Recreational Cannabis with a population of about 84 million people. Which may or may not be of interest to you because you live in the good old USA.
USA, USA, USA, USA⊠sorry about the patriotic chant but every once in a while you just got to break into it.
Anyway, German legalization is of great interest to group of Cannabis professionals that travel to any state or country that has a new Recreational Cannabis market, hoping to make some quick money before Cannabis prices crater and Cannabis Businesses start folding like cheap card tables. Get a few beers and dabs in a seasoned Cannabis professional and they will tell the dirty secret about legal Recreational Cannabis and that secret is, that once that Recreational Cannabis is firmly established in a state and/or country (Canada is a perfect example) that producing or selling isnât that profitable. But if you can get into a Recreational Cannabis market that is just opening up and you can get your Cannabis on the market first, thatâs when you get $2,500.00 per pound or even more. Get there first and thatâs when you can make the serious money but this window of opportunity is usually short lived because within 18 months, a gang of Cannabis producers and processors will be up and cranking out Cannabis products. The other way these professional Cannabis vagabonds earn a living is as a consultant. (Full disclosure - The Old Hemp Farmer occasionally works as a Cannabis consultant, although most of the time, my clients usually donât like my advice.) And the right Cannabis consultant can save you a lot of heartache (time and money) in the process of building a Cannabis company. However, you get the wrong Cannabis consultant and you end up with someone that specializes in spending large amounts of your capital while enriching themselves as they set up your âDreamâ Cannabis business. Because of the small window in Cannabis that is highly profitable, it has spawned a group of people (mostly from Colorado and California) that have made a decent living traveling from one new state Recreational market to another, selling their services, equipment and genetics. As more and more Cannabis Businesses âface plantedâ the ability for Cannabis professionals to sell their services started to wane in the U.S. there were other countries such as Canada and Uruguay that legalized Recreational Cannabis. Suddenly, Cannabis folks, that Iâve know for years were getting their passports and heading to Canada.
And once there, Cannabis folks in Canada were making decent money until the Canadian Cannabis companies began losing huge amounts of money and the âYanksâ started getting their service contracts canceled. But this made a lot of Cannabis professionals realize that the World was their oyster and their knowledge was the knife to open it. Suddenly there were Cannabis endeavors being started in Africa, Central America, South America with the latest Cannabis hot spot being Thailand. So far very few of these attempts at Cannabis Colonialism have been profitable, which is why Germany is so enticing for Cannabis professionals. Germany has a fairly large population with one of the highest per capita incomes in the World, it seems like a great a place to sell a lot of weed at a decent price. So several of my fellow Cannabis professionals are dusting off their business plans/resumes while brushing up on their conversational German. So there will be more than a few "Cannabis" folks touring Germany this Summer. Even âThe Old Hemp Farmerâs Wifeâ has mentioned that it might be a good idea to visit Germany in the near future. Anyway as always, Hemp Dawgs and Hemp Puppies keep one eye on the weather and the other eye on the market.
