Happy Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Tumblr!

Throughout the month of May, we’ll be celebrating contributions that Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have made to our society by recognizing the importance of their accomplishments and shedding light onto their experiences. The APA term, rather broad, encompasses the all of the Asian continent and the Pacific islands of Melanesia.

Our focus will be on immigration, art, music, and activism within the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. We’ll have spotlights from the Asian American Federation, graphics of prominent Asian activists from @18mr, and a story about South Asian immigrants from the South Asian Digital Archive Association.

As with any group of people, the Asian American and Pacific Islander community is not monolithic. Gender, socioeconomic status, age, and other intersectional identities mean every person experiences a different journey.
