FLYING RAYS ON BLUE PLANET II WHERE ARE BARBARA AND IAN
Barbara Wright is in my opinion one of the most feminist characters in Doctor Who history. That does not, for example, excuse the rapey comedy plots she was subjected to on multiple occasions, most notably in The Romans or The Keys of Marinus. Things can be good and meaningful alongside harmful implication. They generally are.
Loving something doesn’t mean you can’t critique it, and I don’t doubt the revisiting of the Hartnell era this Christmas will be heavy with the nostalgic love, too. But what’s the point in revisiting the past if not to find ways to move forward in the future?
Preach. I'm dreading recapping The Romans if only for the sheer amount of times I'm going to type the word 'problematic'.
Taking a playful swipe at One’s casual chauvinism in the Christmas Special isn’t the same thing as taking a massive dump on their character development. Everybody chill.

Alive.
Just so you know. But also crazy busy. Yet DETERMINED to get this show back on the road dammit. Going to aim to get the Dalek Invasion of Earth done once and for all this weekend. Because dammit I can't put off talking about Susan's betrayal I mean departure any longer.
Why is my brain the discourse, why can’t I just be happy about the “man crush” scene and everything, why must I go-
yeah but still they only made it officially romantic when on screen it looks like a hetero pairing
yeah but now the ethics of a woman are defined by two men who get to judge her no matter what she chooses
yeah the dancing is very romantic but they literally “lead” her and drag her around and it’s now basically two men fighting over who owns her
yeah but yeah but yeah but
Someone shut me up I just want to enjoy Doctor Who goddammit
^^Basically my life.
FUUUUUUUUUUUCK
Yes, Bill, you CAN double lock the doors.

“Fluid link K-5-7. Removed it from the TARDIS the other night after your lecture.” “That is very untrusting!” [x]
FLUID LINK.
No what wait is the whole of 'The Daleks' a filthy lie?

FLUID LINK.
Apologies...
...for my broken shoulder is still really sore and typing for long periods of time is really uncomfortable and I don’t think I’m going to get this next recap done in time for tomorrow. Just to be on the safe side, I’m giving myself a week off until my mobility improves, and hopefully the final, V Emosh chapter of The Dalek Invasion of Earth will be all over your dash (complete with long howlings over Susan’s fate) this time next week. It’s an important one, so I want to make the job a goodun!
New Episode Tomorrow!
(Apologies for the lack of a gif set today. My shoulder is broken and I'm saving all my ligaments for typing.)
That time on twenty-second-century Earth when Ian managed to derp his way inside a Dalek ‘penetration explosive’ in full view of the Daleks.
