The Owl House Runes: Hooty’s Moving Hassle
We got a couple new pieces of text this episode, with a few entirely new letters revealed! I’m going to start with Willow’s book, because it makes solving the “eye” message easier:
We know the second rune is an “oo” sound like in “two,” the third is N, the fourth is a variation of A like in “apart,” and the fifth is R. Based off the obvious relevance of the moon, I think “LUNAR” is a pretty safe guess, making that first unknown rune L.
I’m less sure about the second word, but “MAGIC” seems plausible. The first rune resembles an M, the second is an A/E sound like “apart,” the third is unknown, the fourth is I, and the fifth seems like either a slight variation or a different font of the C (or phonetically, K) symbol revealed in Covention:
This would mean the third rune of the second word is G, though that’s less immediately helpful than the new L rune when we move onto this episode’s other code:
This one has the eye symbol, so it’s a part of the longer message strung between episodes. We’ve got first letter A/E, second letter most likely L (though I can’t be completely sure because the font is different), third letter O (specifically the “oh” sound), and fourth letter N. This means the word is most likely “ALONE,” which gives us an updated message of:
“TWO WITCHES TORN APART, NOW ALONE…”
Part 4/4 of some samples of my boards from The Owl House “Witches Before Wizards” ToT I’m just so happy all of this stuff made it into the final cut, since it’s still pretty much my favorite thing I’ve boarded on the show so far… though there’s still more to come :) Definitely check out The Owl House on Disney Channel.
Part ¾ of some samples of my boards from The Owl House “Witches Before Wizards” My proudest accomplishment is this dang staff scene ToT I was really hoping to capture a mood and I think it came out pretty good!
Part 2/4 of some samples of my boards from The Owl House “Witches Before Wizards” I had a really fun time boarding this sequence. I am beyond bummed that my luxuriant and painstaking recreations of delicious scones never really made it as prominently into the final episode (and that Raven sidekick was cut) haha But most everything else did! I really love drawing Luz; she’s the sweetest. :)
Part ¼ of some samples of my boards from The Owl House “Witches Before Wizards” A little late to the game, but I wanted to share some of the boards I did from The Owl House, now that it’s started airing. I was so proud to work on Season 1 Episode 2! It was such a great way to start working on this show. It’s always interesting to see what changes and what stays the same as it makes it’s way through the revisions and final animation phase :) I’m pretty pleased that most of my work actually made it through as is!
