Simone de Beauvoir, from a diary entry featured in Diary of a Philosophy Student
Dropping the latest Sketch-a-Wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for April! A scene from The Wicked King by Holly Black, Cardan and Jude pledging their troth.
This scene was nondescript on the type of flowers that were blooming in the king's chambers as they were professing their vows to each other. But given how they were both adamant that their marriage would be utilitarian and short lived, I feel like the room blooming over head was a sign that it was more permanent than they realized, hence the wisteria and its meaning. 🤭
isnt it interesting that two people can read the same book and one will just move on and the other will have their entire dna changed by the characters i just love that reading is such a unique and entirely human experience

“she should’ve been at the club” she should’ve been sitting under a shady tree reading a book frodo baggins style
no offense but reading is literally the cure to brain rot and there’s no work around to reading books

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
foreshadowing done well makes me go feral like there’s NOTHING better than getting to the end a book or an important storyline moment and realising that the author laced information so intricately into their writing that weren’t noticeable upon first read but when you read back sections they’re light giant red flags like wow writing is amazing
the best stories contain two stories: the one you read the first time, and the one you read every time after that
