Molly was tired after a long day in her morgue, three bodies had come in very late and she had had to stay to do all the autopsies. So yes, she was very tired and just wanted to take a bath, then curl up with her cat.
Her roommate had other ideas.
"Molly! I'm so glad you're here! Now, when a fire alarm goes off several times on different occasions is that a bad thing? Because I turned it off after the third time it went off. I made something!"
Her tired brain couldn't keep up with Idris' fast mouth so Molly raised a hand and said, "Wait, what are you saying?"
Oh no. The last time Idris cooked their alarm wouldn't shut off and numerous neighbors complained about the smell. When living in a small modest flat, it was easy for sounds and smells to get through the walls.
"That's lovely, now, what exactly did you make?"
"And what did you mean to make?"
She always meant to make something in particular, but ended up changing in the middle.
"Well, I meant to make a big cake, but the first one didn't come out, and I was running out of batter, so I made cupcakes! Try one!"
It didn't look completely awful, so Molly took a small bite and said, "That is actually very good Idris, but maybe next time tone down on the salt?"
"Maybe, but I like things to be salty! You look tired. Are you tired? Have I made you tired? I didn't mean to! Do you want some tea?"
"Yes, I am tired Idris, and tea would be lovely, but I just want to go take a bath."
Molly went to their bathroom and began to fill up the tub, after a long soak she went into the living room to find that Idris had gone to bed but had left a hot cup of tea with some biscuits on the table. As she sipped her tea, Molly was grateful for her roommate.
