TXT (enc): Point to what, Bruce?
[TEXT] whatever it is iâve convinced myself iâm doing
TXT (enc): Saving the world, one piece at a time.
TXT (enc): Itâs only futile when you look at it as a big picture, you know. for each person, itâs their whole goddamn world.
[TEXT] never would have taken you as the optimistic type
TXT (enc): Less optimism, more forcing myself away from nihilism, Bruce.

Reblog this if youâll rp with nonbinary and genderfluid muses!
As someone with a nonbinary muse, I have to constantly worry about whether or not people will acknowledge them as a character, so please reblog this!

[ENCRYPTED TEXT] Meet me at the Macyâs on Park.
TXT (enc): Twenty minutes.
Though it was really more like seventeen, as the queue for the Watchtower zetas was kind of short, and the winds were working in Manhunterâs favor as she moved from rooftop to rooftop, behind her for once. Still dry, yetâbut the clouds were looming, the air heavy, a blanket of smog and unspent rain. Ominous, in that way that made her wish the storm would just get the fuck on with the chaos already.
It was obvious that one never met Batman at the front door of anywhere, and Kate found her guess of âroofâ to be fairly acceptable, a swatch of black whipping at the corner of her vision. It was there, then gone again, though, and so her landing was a soft scratch of boots on the tar-and-graveled roof. Then a wait, for him to come to her; his city, his game, his rules.
To pass the time, she peered down at the alley below, cocking her head, noting Bat handiwork in the two shucksters tied to a dumpster, twenties scattered at their feet just out of reach. After a moment, she said to thin air, âKind of a shame you didnât take my advice about the fire thing. I thought itâd be poetic.â
The Bat doesnât move to respond, letting the sudden whiplash of the wind kick up, instead, and carry his words to the woman, his voice low as he stared down at the unconscious men.Â
âIf theyâre lucky, they wonât drown when the storm surge hits.â
He doesnât give a warning, his hand moving under the cape to his belt, pulling his grappling gun out and aiming it at the building across the way. The line shoots off, going taut with a twang, and he slides across it. He continues to speak when his boots hit the ground.
âIâll need you on the ground, working in the East Endâs barrios.. They donât take well to the police ordering them to the shelters.â
It was pretty harsh, for Batman, and Manhunter lifted an eyebrow, but as it was behind her mask, nothing gave it away save perhaps a faint shift in her posture. She straightened, anyhow, let out a blast from her staff, and followed him across the alley without bothering with a âwait upâ. Only Bruce novices or the incredibly bullheaded demanded to be catered for when the Bat was like this, unless they were were deliberately trying to piss him off.
âThe East End,â she said, and padded alongside him--the suit made it possible to keep up with his stride, there was no way in hell sheâd manage otherwise. âAnd they donât like the police? Gee, I canât imagine why,â she noted, shifting into Spanish. It was partially for emphasis and partially to start the code switch in her head ahead of time. Seconds mattered in this kind of situation.
And between distrust over police brutality and the lingering national memory of the Superdome, Kate was gonna have her work cut out for her.
âKeeping the fun jobs for yourself?â she continued, an amused tinge to her tone indicating she was teasing; she knew that even if her task was shit, his was going to be undoubtedly worse.
