I love looking at beautiful bullet journals--don't get me wrong. But the one thing I hate about beautiful bullet journal spreads is that, at least for me, they almost NEVER look like that. This was my planner during finals week, when I graduated from University. I had 4 jobs and was taking 18 credits and LEMME TELL YA, it is hard to keep your planner looking beautiful when you barely have time to eat! In a way, however, the giant mess of colors has its own beauty. I think it's important to remember that your journal doesn't have to look like anyone else's, and it's ESPECIALLY important to remember that it's okay to let it get messy!

Now that Christmas is over, it's time to roll in the New Year! What's your New Years resolution?
Almost like nostalgia?
I'm stuck in this really weird feeling, where I really want to dress cute and walk around downtown all sassy and fierce and fashionable with Kate Spade garb and vampy lipstick But another part of me wants to buckle down in Patagonia fleeces and snow boots and wear my hair in a bun 24/7, forget the world and stomp through snow in the mountains for a good while.
Planners are both a blessing and a curse--they keep me organized, but sometimes I have way too much fun with them to be productive.
Another example of using the mini calendar for other, more fun things. Who else has a bunch of books on your wishlist?
I really dislike using the mini calendar layouts in my planner, so rather than leave them as wasted space, I like to write "inspirational quotes of the month" or lists (December's layout has my Christmas wish list, and it's SO pretty). Sometimes I'll try to put budgeting info or shopping lists on it, too. Just another way of creating a mock bullet journal.
While I don't use a bullet journal for my personal life, I use bullet journal-esque ideas for my daily planner/agenda such as: color coding, adding scripty fonts on special days/weeks, creating a "key" or "index" to separate school from housework, etc. This is the spread I used the week school started! 18 credits and 3 jobs requires a lot of organization.
Researched something kinda cool today.
So, when I was in high school Spanish, my teacher was telling us about how the days were named after certain astrological things. For example, "lunes" (Monday) sounds like "luna," or moon in English. I was thinking about that today at 3 in the morning and decided to do some research. Sunday = Sun's day (literally, the day of the sun) Monday = moon's day Tuesday = Tiw's Day, as in, the day belonging to the god Tiw (essentially the Norse equivalent of Mars/Ares) Wednesday = Woden's Day (aka, "Odin's Day." I hope you know who Odin is.) Thursday = Thor's day (Norse dude with hammer) Friday = Day of Frigg (Venus/Aphrodite) or Freya (Odin's wifey) Saturday = Saturn's day I just find it interesting how language changes, and things can have a very specific name that eventually changes overtime because we're too lazy to say the whole thing. The ampersand grew its name because it used to be recited at the end of the alphabet as an extra letter after Z: "W, X, Y, Z, and per say and." And per say and. Andpersayand. Ampersayand. Ampersand.
"One can no more keep the mind from returning to an idea than the sea from returning to a shore. For a sailor, this is called the tide; in the case of the guilty, it is called remorse."
