I remember it as if it was yesterday... this insanely addictive new website had been launched by a kid from Harvard, and it had made its way down to UNC. We were one of the early schools to get access, and it was such an exciting way to meet new people outside of my immediate circles. I spent hours in the TriDelt Brecht house building my profile with the few digital photos I had, scoured the student body for friends and cute boys I could "poke" (which made for a somewhat hilarious first time conversation at Top-O when Allison spotted one and dragged him over), integrated it into a film project for my media production class, and basically told everyone I knew that if they weren't already on Facebook, they needed to join immediately. As my career in media evolved, so did my business relationship with the platform. It became a key distribution channel for original content (both branded and editorial) and an essential element of digital media strategies. I was fortunate enough to work at companies that understood the importance of social, adapting their offerings and developing products specifically for this user behavior... so as the platform matured, so did my involvement in marketing it. Tomorrow is a big day for me... tomorrow I join that company that had me fixated all those years ago. Tomorrow is my first official day as a Client Partner at Facebook. I am over the moon excited and extremely grateful for the opportunity to take on this new challenge... and what better way to share this exciting life change than with the photos that filled my very first Facebook album almost 15 years ago. ❤️ https://www.instagram.com/p/B_v1skspWgt/?igshid=3drc5f8eku61
