The Nova Scotia government announced Tuesday that its promised program to encourage people to buy local will award points only at Sobeys Inc
This is ridiculous. Sobeys is one of the biggest chains in the country and although the HQ is in Stellarton, it’s hardly a “local” company any more. And only two companies in the whole program, the other being the liquor store?
It’s also very unclear to me why this program exists at all. We have healthcare and housing issues that we’re still struggling with. Rewarding one of the companies that is complicit in the high price of groceries seems like a totally random thing to be involved in at this time.
The Houston government is to be commended for thinking out of the box on many issues, but this one is a swing and a miss.

Given that the premiers have made a big mess of all their responsibilities, I don’t blame the federal government for stepping in. Health care and housing in particular. It’s pretty rich that the premiers are complaining about the feds doing their job. All they have to do is do their own jobs and the Feds will go away.

I don’t know what’s better for the US. Will they vote for anyone but Trump? In which case it makes sense for Biden to continue.
Or will they not vote for Biden? And if not, will they vote at all?
I don’t see any Dems deciding to vote for Trump over Biden, but simply not voting at all is what Trump needs after getting his ass handed to him in 2020, so that’s just as bad.
