i need people to stop pretending laws effect everyone equally. “how would they even enforce and anti-boycott law on individuals” they would find individuals they wish to imprison and they would imprison them. then they would find whatever evidence they need. get a clue. stop acting cute.

are there actually still people who “don’t like rap” who were born after 1972 and/or aren’t specifically trying to be racist? i’m seeing a lot of people getting mad at a guy who likes Kendrick but doesn’t like rap, and i’m pretty sure that is a made up guy.

also rap is not the only music that Black people make and the idea that you have to listen to rap in order to not be racist is reductive at the very least. not liking rap and being noisy about it is a dog whistle, but listening to music other than rap by lots of different artists who aren’t all white is fine. like, have you ever listened to r&b? if you like Ariana Grande and you’ve never heard actual r&b you are in for a sweet surprise.

this might be unfair of me, but it makes me sick to my stomach the way people talk about the conflict in palestine and ukraine all the time non stop while having absolutly nothing to say about what’s happening in DRC and the never ending tour of lithium and uranium mining hitting indigenous communities across the americas. like, do people realize that that’s what we are directly and immediately affected by?

i get that people can be really cruel online when they think your music taste sucks, but i’ve heard people say this exact type of thing in response to hearing people critique the fact that they only listen to white musicians. i’m not saying that’s what this person is doing, but this is a classic defensive response to being called out for racism. “i’m not racist, you’re being transphobic and ableist!”

anyway, we’re all just tired of how mediocre a white guy can be and still get stupid famous. i think if the cultural trend of people who listened to these guys was to shift to also listen to artists of color the perception would be very different.
