Muriel and the Forgotten Land

For centuries there has been a divide between humanity and the forgotten land. The Forgotten Land consists of an overgrown kingdom that rests upon a mountain ledge, overlooking the large-unruly sea. The land looks small from afar, but no man has gotten close enough and returned to tell otherwise. No information of the Forgotten Land has been recited as no sailor dared sail upon the land as old tales frightened them since childhood. Some whispered of titans that could squash you without knowing, others whispered of gods and goddesses that would strike you for sport. The truth is that they call themselves The Spirited, individuals that look human but possess otherworldly abilities. The humans of the Blue Moon kingdom have always been curious as to who or what resides in the Forgotten Land. Legend says that on a full moon you can see the faintest glow coming from the mountain. The Blue Moon kingdom hopes to one day come in contact with the people of the Forgotten Land.

One girl wants to mend the divide, and make the world united as it once was. Her people fear war, but she has never been one to back away due to fear. This girl is Muriel, better known as Princess Muriel. She was given her name due to her divine connection with the ocean. Muriel has always known that she was destined for greatness, but her royal status has held her back. She knows that there is more to the world than their kingdom and sailing out to the Forgotten Land is the first step. Will she be able to convince the people of her kingdom to trust her? Muriel is ready to embark on her journey, but with no knowledge of the other land, she may be in over her head.

Reaching the Forgotten Land

It was a rough few weeks at sea, but I had made it to the mountain.

I look up at the mountain and I can barely make out a castle through the thick fog.

The journey up to the castle turned out to be shorter than I expected. With no traps or hungry animals blocking my path, I was at the castle walls in no time.

I was pondering a way to get inside the castle when the wall in front of me suddenly disappeared and a woman stood in its place.

"My name is Idira, Queen of the Spirited. We have long expected your arrival, Princess Muriel of the Blue Moon Kingdom."

My Departure

Faced with the news of my upcoming departure, my parents forbade me from leaving the kingdom. If I were to leave, my parents would disown me. I would be letting down my townsfolk and leaving my parents with no heir to the throne.

It was a huge risk that I had to take, but I need to know what exists in the Forgotten Land. I feel like I am being called to the mountain. I've never felt so sure about anything in my life.

The motion of the sea is rough as I make tread through the angry body of water. I've always felt a strong connection to the water so the force does not frighten me.

I Want Answers

I look out of my window to the townsfolk below. Oh, how I wish they would trust me as much as they trust my parents. They aren't curious about the Forgotten Land as I am, instead, they allow fear to withhold the truth. There is something in the Forgotten Land, we've all heard the tales of the glowing light that appears on full moons. If only I could give them my courage, my desire, my strength, then maybe the Forgotten Land wouldn't be so forgotten.

I plan on revealing my departure to my parents and the townsfolk soon. I will not allow their cowardness to blind me forever, I must know who or what inhabits the Forgotten Land.
