GQ COVERS: The 2000s
Through the Bush Years Part 2 were a serious time in America, the cover of GQ loosened up during this decade, thanks to the playful eye of design director Fred Woodward, who joined GQ from Rolling Stone in 2001. The color palette grew bolder, and the G crept up on the Q in the logo. The clothes the guys wore took a casual turn, with collars unbuttoned and ties pulled open. And the style of photography changed, too. Cover subjects were increasingly captured in moments that were less traditional and posed, much sexier (see Jennifer Aniston, Adriana Lima, and a smoldering Clive Owen), and frequently played for comedy (see Will Ferrell, Seth Rogen, and a smoldering Sacha Baron Cohen).
