The Magnus Archives Suggestion Blogs RP: a Retrospective

Clunky title behind us, hello! Tis I, your beloved author. It's been a few years, and some recent activity drew me back to this dead husk of a blog.

Much has changed since I started this blog with my now ex-boyfriend. I barely graduated high school, started HRT, college almost killed me thanks to a newfound disability, and my mental health has continued to devolve. Cherry stuff!

Looking back on this blog, I see a lot of things that were almost good. Plot lines that could have been great, characters who were almost clever, mysteries that were never solved. I can't blame us for our mediocrity. We were just dicking around on the internet, roleplaying as characters from our favorite horror fiction podcast. I met many of my closest friends through this rp. I also met many people I don't actually remember very well, and I'm sorry for that.

As of publishing this post, this blog has 71 followers. As far as I can recall it used to have over 100. It was a lot of fun at its peak, and I hope to do something similar again someday. Just... maybe not in this format.

What would I have done differently? Well, for one I wouldn't do such long-form rp over tumblr. The reblog chains get obnoxious quick and it makes it difficult to navigate the blogs. I also would have been more explicit about the fact that the cipher I used was gold-bug, since I was very proud of that little easter egg.

What did I enjoy most? Definitely meeting new people! I really enjoyed making friends and welcoming newcomers into the group. Also the fan discord was super cool, even if I was never a member of it. I wonder if it's still running...?

What comes next? I don't know! Many of my peers have deleted their blogs and I'm not interested in tma anymore, so you won't be seeing more RP out of this account. I'll leave it up for as long as possible in order to preserve this piece of art.

As a final note, I'd like to formally apologize to Jonah. I didn't realize it would end like this, buddy, and I'm sorry. Better luck next time?

Psst, before Jonah wakes up-OP here ;) It’s been a while, huh? Lots has changed since this blog stopped being active… I’m applying for college, my body stopped functioning properly and now I sleep ~12 hours a day (more if I can manage it), and, as my life changed, my interests changed with it. The way I approach writing/role playing has changed, too, but that doesn’t flow as well. If I decide to start being active on this blog again, Jonah might be different. He’d still be the self-righteous fuck we all know and love, as I’ve regrettably grown fond of this blog, but he (and I) might be less active, less involved. Also, because nobody ever fucking figured it out, the cipher I’ve been using is the Gold-Bug cipher. Here. Oh, shit, I should go before-

What are your thoughts on how Gertrude Robinson dealt with the Lonely ritual attempt? Did you ever talk to her about it? How did that conversation go?

Gertrude Robinson was a clever woman, sharp as a knife and just as cold. Her absence from my work could be considered a compliment.
