I've seen a few people on different platforms be confused after seeing the BTS pics of today and how we could've had better angles for the kisses. Because some people thought they weren't really kissing, which... they were, or simply because they wanted to be able to see them better.
I've wanted to talk about this since the beginning of this week but haven't for some reason so these BTS pics are the PERFECT opportunity for little old me to FINALLY post this.
I'm a firm believer, and I think I'm not the only one because I've seen this response a few times, that every or almost every single camera shots this season are made to reflect Lovro's state of mind and where he is at the moment. (You're gonna tell me duh, this is from his point of view.)
And yeah, I know that might be obvious, but remember beginning of the season and every single shot of Ivan hid his face? He was barely in the shots, had close to 0 close ups, was always shown as some sort of mystical being. At first, every Lovro's daydreams on the bike were just of lovro and Ivan's back and we were never shown his face. And people were complaining (rightfully so, we could litteraly never see his face at first lol) until boom they started to hang out and get to know each other.
Suddenly, there was close ups. But there were all in the dark. AGAIN we could barely see Ivan's face clearly. Could never really tell what he was thinking about. People were wondering once again why the show did that, because it was difficult to get to know Ivan if we didn't see him. He was either in the dark or his close ups lasted like..1 second.
And then (you're starting to get where I'm going lmao) their first kiss happened and unlike what a lot of the fandom thought and feared it was litteraly BATHED in light. It might even have been the clearest shot we ever had of them together. Right at the moments Lovro finally gave up on some of his walls. When he finally just stopped fighting himself for a while.
Realise how almost every single shot of Ivan after that starts to be in the light and really focused on his face? How since the kiss they're almost always in the light? I don't see people talk about the lack of Ivan shots or the dark lightning on his face anymore, because it doesn't really happen.
Where it's still lacking is for their physical intimacy. Which people (me included bc they're not really trying to hide it lol) have definitely noticed and talked about. Almost every kisses of theirs are very poorly lit, and they're shot in a way that their faces always block their lips. So we rarely actually SEE the ́kisses. (Which has then obviously awaken the annoying people begging for problems that think the actors are uncomfortable or that the show is being censored and the kisses are not actually real. This would be why it just looks like their face are in front of the other to look like they're kissing. Which, if you look at the BTS is clearly wrong bc they were really kissing lmao.)
If you think about Lovro's state right now and his relationship with himself and his sexuality, this makes PERFECT sense. He's ashamed (if we even use his own words, disgusted.) and scared. He wants to stay hidden, he wants no one to see him like this. The show is reflecting that by making the kisses awkward. And I'm not talking about their body language, I'm only thinking in terms of camera works and angles. There's no close ups, no shots of their lips (except for their first kiss but again this one makes sense, Lovro litteraly let go of everything in that moment, he was in a bubble. (Litteraly lol)), and they're lost in the shots with a camera that's barely moving. Because that's how Lovro is feeling.
Everything camera/lighting wise in this season has happened gradually. It has evolved with the characters. And it's going to continue down that road as the story progresses.
The more Lovro will starts to accept himself, the more comfortable he will get, the more the show will make it as well for us. The story is driven by Lovro and we're meant to feel what he feels.
So I believe the way they shoot and light up thoses kisses will continue to evolve until ep10!
(This was not some super deep video analysis I think a lot of people have caught up on that lmaoo I just wanted to write it down cause I've been thinking about it for a while! The show is actually being quite forward with the way they're going with it.)
