Our friend Teemu from the whitewater kayaking club Kohina, where the two of us met, promised us an ice cream for every 500km we hitchike. He handed us 5 envelopes with messages for 2500 km in total. We thought he's super optimistic but in the end we'll just pass 2500km. Last 271 km to go! 😄 Kiitos Teemu!
Earlier this afternoon, we donated our smoothie to keep our driver fresh! Maybe this is why he then offered to drive us out of his way to get us to a good hitching spot! :)
After just a 1 minute wait near Kempele we found a ride direct to Helsinki! A little cramped but definitely no complaints! :)
This cool cat was on his way back home after an an orienteering race. We were the first hitchhikers he has ever picked up! Guess he couldn't tell how bad we smelt before he stopped...Kiitos Elis!
Minivan ride south this morning...
Hitching a caravan in Norway yesterday! (Catching up on posts as we had no reception over there!)
This morning's ride: Mathis, a lovely Sami guy who was the first person to drive past us this morning and who stopped after we waited a total of 4 seconds hitching! Treated to some Sami music in the car and dried reindeer meat. Kiitos Mathis! :)
After finding a seemingly perfect ride to Tromsø in Norway, we made a difficult but sensible decision to turn around in Nordkjosbotn. Spotted a good place to hitch from and so made a split-second decision to head back to Finland! Sad we jad to abandon our Tromsø ride but such is life!

We made it all the way to the Arctic Ocean from the Baltic Sea! Now we're back in Finland, settling in to sleep. N' Night!

After almost 5 hours in Oulu we finally got a ride! Helena and Tapio are taking us all the way to Pallas-Hetta tunturi, small mountain in Lapland. Just in time out of the rain!
