Dogs Are Cool
I should write a book called âDNA isnât as cool as you think it is and other lies about science perpetuated by the mediaâ
chapters would include:Â
DNA doesnât deserve all the credit
thatâs not how development works
thatâs not how a properly blinded clinical trial works
no one gets multiple PhDs please stop with this
everything takes forever and nothing works
physicist canât do biology (or chemistry for that matter), a primer on specialization
the myth of singular white male genius in science
please do even the barest amount of googling before you hang your plot on something you clearly know nothing about, I am literally begging you
yikes⢠or: the worst offenders I have come across yet
The cover would just be that one screenshot from Orphan Black of Cosima using a pipette without a tip

Noodle has a light side, and a dark side.
ive been reading a book that basically explains how so-called âbrain differencesâ between the genders is the result of gendered socialization and not the cause of it. i honestly expected the book to be very cis-centric but its actually the opposite, the author stresses that testimony from trans ppl is actually indispensable because weâve, in a sense, âlived both experiencesâ
more cis feminists should have this mindset
one of the first examples that she uses to introduce her point about how perception by others can shape a personâs performance actually uses a trans woman. it explains that as a certain trans woman became to be seen as a woman more and more frequently, the ppl arond her eventually started viewing her as being ill equipped for tasks that they did not bother her about pre-transition. eventually she even found herself underperforming in these tasks herself.
whats the name of the book
Delusions of Gender by Cordelia Fine
Hereâs a pdf, babes <3
I knew it was this book before Iâd finished reading the first two lines. Honestly this book is indispensible if you want to debunk any gender determinism people claim is science. I canât recommend it enough.
Sheâs written a new one! It won the Royal Society prize for science book of the year, and itâs called Testosterone Rex, and it is excellent.
(Bonus: itâs making old white men really really mad.)
(Bonus bonus: I am myself a neuroscientist, and the old white men mentioned above â who are not â could not have missed the point harder if theyâd actively tried. Which. Maybe?)
fuk them up Rudy
To all the guys who think I'm into you: that's a pretty high horse you're riding, I hope you fall off it.
Thereâs nothing wrong with being single, people all my life have made it seem like itâs a problem when itâs really not. If you donât want to date anyone you donât have to ok.
FUCKING PREACH. I live my life this way
Heâs just a boy, pretending to be a guy and a guy pretending to be a man. Donât lower your standards to a child.
