This has been our motto since before the start of our project. We are all about love, acceptance, and support. A friend once told us “You never know what your project may grow into on it’s own.” We definitely believe him now. We never would have thought we’d be having conversations like these, but we are so grateful that people feel comfortable enough to reach out to us in a time of need. Happy Pride Month everyone!! Remember, we here at The Scarlet Ribbon Project wear this logo as a symbol of pride. Not because we are proud that we have HIV but because we are proud of the judgement we’ve overcome, proud of those who still love and support us, proud of the families we create…. and most importantly proud of the lives we continue to live despite our status and the stigma we face because of it! 🔟🔟🔟!!! Pose on fx definitely gets Tens across the board in our book! We love how they are not only shedding needed light on the history of LGBTQ culture but aren’t shying away from the HIV/AIDS epidemic and how it effected the LGBT community. Bringing the topic of HIV up in such a mainstream way is exactly what we need to get them watching, get them talking, get them learning, and hopefully get them tested! Today, December 1st, is World AIDS Day. It is the day where we remember those we have lost due to HIV/AIDS. It is also the day we honor them by continuing the fight to end this epidemic and its stigma by bringing awareness, getting tested, knowing our statutes, and keeping ourselves and those we love healthy.

We met a lot of new people today. So in honor of National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day, please allow us to reintroduce ourselves using a video our friends over at @TheGranVarones made for us. Thank you, and welcome to The Scarlet Ribbon Project.

When I say we have to come together, this is what I mean! Look at how far we’ve come! HIV has become extremely manageable. So much so that U=U, being undetectable=untransmittable. Yet those living with HIV today still face stigma as if we are still living in the 80’s. These educational and medical advances were done by no individual person. It took tons of people coming together, working on a common goal to get us where we are today. Now is the time for us to come together once again to make those same strides in social advancement by sharing our stories and showing the world that we are more than their stigma.

Today was an amazing day, we kicked off our project at this years annual AIDS walk! I just wanted to thank everyone of my friends and family who came and showed their support today! It is because of you all that we got to spread our message and touch so many people!

We are all set for our first public reveal at this years annual AIDS walk in Philly. We are super excited to meet all of you and hopefully getting to hear some of your stories!

Today is Friday the 13th!!! And with Halloween slowly approaching, there are plenty of scary things to be afraid of... being HIV positive no longer has to be one of those things. With proper education and practicing healthy and positive self care, HIV has become a lot more manageable. HIV is no longer a death sentence! We can lead long, happy, and healthy lives. Now, the fear that we face is the judgement from others.... the stigma. And just like that creepy clown, it is experienced differently by everyone and it is nearly impossible to overcome alone. It is only when we address the 🎈 in the room together that we can make strides in killing this monster we call Stigma once and for all!

Today is national coming out day. And on this day, two years ago, the seed was planted from which @TheScarletRibbonProject was born. It started off with me making and posting a video on YouTube that began with me telling how I came out to my family as gay and ended with me disclosing my status (for the very first time) to the world. It was such a liberating experience. So much so, that I wanted to help others feel that feeling of all the years of fear and stress just disappear... I just didnt know how. It wasn’t until I was inspired by @TheGranVarones storytelling project, and saw the reach and impact they had that I knew that was what I was going to do. All I had to do was come up with a name. Now, I’m not going to sit here and pretend to have read The Scarlet Letter, but I HAVE seen #EasyA and the message I got from that was so empowering! How she branded herself, endured her own form of stigma, and owned people’s judgement but didn’t let it effect her, didn’t lower her self worth, and still managed to become a stronger person through it all! And that’s a message we wanted to stand by. So now we brand ourselves and share our stories because by doing that we take away the power that other’s judgement has on us and Stigma simply becomes ignorance.

Less than two weeks away from Philly’s annual AIDS walk, and we are so excited! This will be our first introduction to the real world as a project and we are so looking forward to meeting tons of new people! With today being National Gay Mens HIV/AIDS awareness day, I just wanted to remind everyone that change starts with us! We can help end Stigma by making sure we are aware and educated on how this epidemic is affecting us to be sure that we continue to lead positive lives.
