Thinking of HR season 2…
I’m excited to see how Hudson and Connor approach Shane & Ilya.
They both have more experience under their belts now, and I’m sure they’ve both grown as actors as a result. It’ll be interesting to see how they bring their personal growth to the characters especially as Shane & Ilya have grown too.
What elements of their performances will feel familiar? What parts will change? It’s exciting to think about.
Showing Some Love to the Love-making…
I think Hudson and Connor delivered beautiful performances in season 1. Their work in the last 3 episodes (ie. nightclub scene, coming out to Rose, Russian phone call, love confession etc.) is just top tier and rightly praised. However, an element of their performances that I think doesn’t gets enough credit is the sex scenes.
Yes, the scenes are steamy and sexy, but it’s often neglected that they are still delivering high-quality performances during them. With their bodies and their faces, and of course great choreography from the intimacy coordinator (Chala Hunter), Hudson and Connor make those scenes feel real. We believe they’re feeling pleasure. We believe they’re a bit nervous. We believe they’re entranced by each other. We believe it every step of the way. They never feel false. And that is a testament to their performances and how they embody their characters so well.
As an avid cinephile, I’ve seen plenty of sex/intimacy scenes in films, both good and bad, and honestly Heated Rivalry’s may be some of the best I’ve ever seen.
So, shoutout to Hudson and Connor (and Chala) for their incredible work. 👏🏾

the blackface-adjacent costume is "old news" but never properly addressed, maybe?
but, yeah, people want *him* to make a statement about the swastika incident. because at that party there were young men with drawn-on hitler mustaches, too. and there is supposedly a second photo from a different year with another forehead swastika, (but some fans are saying that it's just a janky, blurry cross that has... lots of arms). so, yeah, people want *him* to make an official statement for... ever associating with people like that as friends and partaking in events where kids normalized and spread hate symbols. it seems from where i'm at that a lot of jewish and gay fans are quite hurt by the imagery.
Again, this conversation has been about the hate symbol not the wig. Trust me as a Black woman I care about racism and hate, but I’m not going to get up in arms about a wig. Other people may feel a way about it, which they have every right to, but…that meant nothing to me.
I saw that second image you mentioned and it did look like a cross to me.
So, the issue then is what I asked about - they want him to apologize for associating w/ terrible people as a teenager at that party.
Again, people have the right to feel how they feel and be hurt, especially Jewish fans as that symbol has a terrible history. I just didn’t see where Hudson was directly to blame.

people might be referring to the picture of him "cosplaying" as a black woman at this point? becasue the swastika thing has been addressed via unofficial statement, if i'm not mistaken. but the picture that dropped of him at a college party in a box braid wig with messy, over-lined lips has not been addressed? not sure. but the swastika thing has been addressed. although people thought that the unofficial statement from "sources close to him" had a victim-blame'y element instead of being a simple "i'm sorry; i do not condone hate symbols," so it wasn't sufficient for them. also... other people want something more official than "friends of the actor." i think...
I’ve seen that thing about the wig; that’s old news.
The current conversation is the hate symbol drawn on his face. I thought the TMZ statement made it clear where he stands. So, people just want him to personally say something? I thought it was adding context not “victim blamey” but…I understand if others saw it that way.
Seeing all this Hudson Williams discourse and I have genuine questions.
I see people saying “He needs to address the hurt he’s caused” but what did Hudson do specifically?
Someone drew a disgusting and hateful symbol on him. Then someone took a picture and posted it.
He didn’t draw it. He didn’t post the pic. The TMZ statement said he didn’t know what was being drawn on him.
So, where is he at fault in this situation? What exactly should he be apologizing for? Or what does he “need to be held accountable for”- being around terrible people as a teenager?
I am genuinely asking in good faith.
Theory...
So, she's starting to rerelease the re-recorded old stuff...I've got a theory about this.
In regard to hear losing the rights to her music/masters, it does suck, but she had the opportunity to buy them herself. She pretty much made this clear in an interview she did with CBS Sunday Morning in which the following exchange occurs:
Interviewer: Nobody in your inner circle knew?
TS: Nobody knew.
Interviewer: And you didn't smell it?
TS: No. (pause) I knew [Scott Borchetta] would sell my music, I knew he would do that. I couldn't believe who he sold it to because we've had endless conversations about Scooter Braun, and he has 300 million reasons to conveniently forget those conversations.
Yes, Borchetta may have talked to her about Braun and known she didn't like him, and I understand if that would make her feel betrayed, but when it comes down to it it's BUSINESS! Borchetta is a businessman and he got a good offer so he took it. Maybe Taylor thought friendship outweighed business, but of course thats not the case in our capitalist society. Besides, she appears to be a savvy business woman so that doesn't make sense.
It's her business savvy and ability to market herself/brand that makes me especially side-eye this whole thing. In the interview she clearly says SHE KNEW her music was going to be sold. So...why didn't she just buy it? Well the answer is also in the CBS Sunday Morning interview:
Interviewer: Now, could you rerecord?
TS: Oh yeah!
Interviewer: That's a plan?
TS: (chuckles) Yeah, absolutely.
The businesswoman that she is, Swift knows that by setting herself up as the victim (she's done it before) she can make BANK! off of this whole thing. She stirs her fans up into a frenzy (ex. attacking Braun online) so they'll feel the need to defend/protect her. When she rereleases her songs the fans will rampantly buy them up/stream them as a show of support and a way to "stick it" to Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta. So when she makes more than 300 million on the rereleases it will allow her to go, "See, I can't be controlled by men. Woo girl power! Look at what we did together fans!" Or in other words, "Look what you made me do Scooter Braun!"
So...yeah. I'm not knocking her getting her bag, like I said she's clearly a smart business woman, I just hate how manipulative it seems to be. She knows the sway/power she holds over her fans and she's crafted a somewhat unhealthy relationship with them (i.e. the "we're best friends" approach) that she knows how to exploit.
So, I do hope fans enjoy the rereleases. I hope they enjoy hearing the songs of their youth grow with them. I just want them to be aware they were possibly played in the process.
TMP Finale Thoughts...
My biggest issue was Mindy and Danny getting back together. From how they are in the finale it's clear that it still isn't a healthy relationship. Yes, they've grown and changed, but once they got back together they fell right back into their old ways with Danny trying to control everything and not even listening to Mindy's ideas/wants for their relationship.
Even that bracelet she wore that inspired her to run to Danny highlighted how unhealthy their relationship was before. It wasn't the big romantic sign she thought it was, but a reminder of his controlling ways.
If they'd ended it as friends or left it open for reconciliation that would've been better.
Ugh. I don't know...its just disappointing.😕
So...I finished The Mindy Project.
And...I can't say I was thrilled by that series finale 😕
Watching the second to last episode of TMP, and how dare they try to make me like Danny again?!
And how dare I start to fall for it 😧
