Trouble # 5: You Are Being Watched

In Trouble #5 we bring you first-hand accounts of people dealing with snitches and undercover cops and how to navigate the brave new world of digital surveillance.

This is good and informative.

One takeaway I got, in the first five minutes of this video, they explain one tactic that these two undercover cops used to avoid suspicion: the weaponization of a vulgar identity politics. One of the cops was a woman, and as part of her cover story, she concocted an elaborate personal history of being a victim of domestic abuse, this allowed her to evade answering questions about her personal life. The other cop was apparently a person of color and would accuse white members of the group of being racist whenever people questioned him.

So, just something to be aware of, feds are very aware of how toxic the politics of identity have gotten in radical circles and how useful a certain strain of vulgar identity politics is for hostile actors to exert power over other people.
