Miguel Cotto Stops Delvin Rodriguez - Roach calls out Martinez

Just as I had hoped and predicted, Cotto proved to be entirely too much for the outclassed Rodriguez. The combination of Cotto's skill and power with the knowledge of a world class trainer like Freddie Roach just simply overwhelmed Rodriguez in 3 rounds. Cotto emerged victorious!

Immediately following the fight Freddie Roach called out Middleweight Kingpin Sergio Martinez....I would love to see this matchup - more to come

Cotto's Last Chance

If Miguel Cotto were to look in the mirror he would see a few things. First he would see a fighter who claims to have a deep motivation to win. Freddy Roach wouldn't agree to train Cotto unless his head was 100% in it, and Cotto somehow proved to Roach, despite their past rivalry, that winning was his only option. Next Cotto would see a disarray of terrible looking tattoos, I love the guy, but his fashion sense one of the worst things I have ever witnessed. Finally, Cotto might see the ghost of Andre Berto floating above him.

Why Andre Berto? Earlier this year I wrote a story about how Berto was in a must win situation against Jesus Soto Karass, and I expected Berto to walk right through him. Berto fell, he lost to Karass, and granted he tore his labrum during the fight (an injury I am all too familiar with - I still need to get surgery to fix mine) he compromised his last shot at being catapulted to a mega-fight with someone like Mayweather. I make this comparison because Cotto is in the same shoes Berto's was a few months ago, and he needs to win if he wants to stay relevant in the sport. I expect after training with Roach, Cotto will walk through Delvin Rodriguez....but who really knows? What do you guys think?
