We drove over Buford Dam last night, looking down on the Chattahoochee River. The water was high, so the generators must have been running. The sunset, the river and the fall foliage make for a beautiful sight. The Western & Atlantic Railroad Tunnel (ca. 1850), Tunnel Hill, GA. One of the last remaining, original sites of the Great Locomotive Chase of 1862. Yankee Volunteers (Andrew's Raiders) stole the locomotive General and headed back toward Chattanooga inflicting as much damage as possible. Fuller ( The General's conductor) and his men gave chase, first on foot, then on the locomotive Yonah and later, the locomotive Texas.
