Rollin: [picture]
Rollin: Found this. Yours?
Derek: Mine.
Derek: Left it there for my father.
Rollin: Leave it here?
katiebobaetie:
Oh thank God. Oh my God, that was…this is…thank God.
Everyone is alright.
But I also don’t see anything else here... We should probably head back.

Rollin: [picture]
Rollin: Found this. Yours?
katiebobaetie:
[Katie watched as Rollin searched, looking around the room. It was all burnt and broken now, but even in this state of wreckage, Katie could tell it must have been beautiful once. She felt a lump rise in her throat and swallowed, willing herself not to cry. Looking up, she walked over to where Rollin was, taking the watch.] Definitely! Anything is worth a shot. Plus, if it doesn’t do anything, then it’s probably…well, it probably belonged to someone else.
[Pulling a folded up map of Beacon Hills out of her pocket, Katie spread it on the ground and held the watch over it, letting it dangle slightly and whispering softly.] It’s a little easier than trying to do this on my phone. [She explained this with a smile to Rollin, but then froze in horror.] Rollin– it’s over the apartment! If this watch belongs to Peter, that means he is at the apartment right now!
What?
Wait, hold on. Before we jump to conclusions... can I see the watch for a moment?
[Rollin took her phone out of her pocket and the watch from Katie. She snapped a picture and sent a picture to Derek. Found this. Yours? She waited for a reply and nodded with a small sigh of relief.]
Don’t worry, it’s Derek’s. We just tracked him instead.
katiebobaetie:
…poor Derek. And poor Cora. No matter what I feel about this, this was…it’s different for them. It’s a lot worse. I can’t even imagine…
Should we, um, should we try another room?
[Rollin nodded in agreement.]
This room looks better. It’s much bigger.
[Rollin searched around, crouching down to the ground occasionally to get a better scent. She couldn’t pick up on anything in particular. Everything still had a smoky scent to it. As Rollin stood up, a glint caught the corner of her eye. She turned her head sharply towards it and stalked closer to the window to retrieve it.]
Looks like a pocket watch. I can’t tell who it belonged to, though. The scent is all messed up. [Rollin picked it up and handed it to Katie.] Worth a try, right?
katiebobaetie:
[Katie met Rollin’s eyes, nodding a little. She had a feeling Rollin knew exactly what she meant.] I’m sorry, Rollin.
Derek? Do you think this was his room?
Me too.
Maybe... or it was someone he cared about and visited here more recently.
katiebobaetie:
Left. The stairs to the basement are, um, right over here.
…It’s always kind of weird, being here. I feel like a part of me somehow remembers it, even though that’s impossible. Another part of me almost feels…I don’t know, not just sad, but…robbed. I never got to know any of them. I guess it’s less hard for me than it is for Derek and Cora, I just…I wish I had known them, you know? I just wish things were different.
Okay, so obviously this is the living room, and some of these are bathrooms, but I think there are like six bedrooms down here. I guess let’s start with this one? It’s closest, and it’s as good as any of them.
[Rollin started down the stairs as Katie spoke. She paused... ‘robbed.’ Rollin turned and made eye contact with Katie, knowing exactly how she felt.] I know.
[Rollin continued and turned into the first bedroom. The scents were incredibly faint, except for one.] Not this one. It’s too small... and I can smell Derek.
katiebobaetie:
Oh, duh!
It’s a good thing we have a plan, just in case!
Always have a plan. Speaking of, now that we are here... where do we start?
Left or right?
katiebobaetie:
The A team is on the case!
If the person is alive, it will locate them. If not, then nothing would happen at all. —Huh, I wonder what we would do in a zombie apocalypse situation, if we ever had to locate a zombie?
Easy. I’d kill the first person to annoy me and we’d throw them off a roof.
Dead people are the zombie tracking spell. No magic needed.
katiebobaetie:
Hell yeah!
This is amazing! That bastard’s not going to get the jump on us this time!
Not with us around.
Even if we find something... if it isn’t Peter’s, will the spell locate the person it belongs to or will it not work?
katiebobaetie:
None. All I know is that it was in the basement– that’s why he was trapped in the house during the fire.
But do you think his scent would still be in the right room?
There’s only one way to find out.
Let’s go snoop.
katiebobaetie:
There might be. If we can find his room, maybe we can find something! And if we can, then we can use that object to expand the search! It’s worth a shot, right?
Good enough of one for me to explore a little.
Any idea where in the house his room would have been?
katiebobaetie:
Definitely not. And as much as I know magic can be about bending the rules, I doubt that would work here.
Hmm. I doubt Derek has anything of Peter’s.
What about the Hale house? Would there be something of his in there that wouldn’t have been completely destroyed?
katiebobaetie:
It should cover the entire county. I can try to expand it, but I would need something of Peter’s. Do you think there is anything belonging to him around?
If it could help us have some idea of where he is…
Doubtful.
Not unless you count family members as “belongings.”
katiebobaetie:
Nothing from the tracking spell yet.
And no scent around town. Not even in the woods.
How far does your spell track out?
allie--argent:
Well, then you don’t have to worry about that part. One reason people might like a label is it defines boundaries; for example, it makes it clear that they only want to be with each other, and no one else. But you can also define that boundary without a label, too.
There’s no right way to have a relationship or go on a date. It’s all what works best for the two people involved.
Okay...
