Mobile Navigation set in 1814, England Welcome to THETONHQ. Households have added pressure after the previous season brought more chaos to their families and even the ordinary citizens are affected. Social positions have changed since last season and many families are more worried about their own standing while those wanting social advancement now see that it is possible and will strive to better themselves. With the majority noble families of England suffering through a potential financial crisis, they have little options. Some families have sought out rich brides/husbands an ocean away while others are reluctant to move with the times. Will either of these options bring ruin or preservation
Dearest Gentle Reader, you do not know me, and rest assured, you never shall, but be forewarned dear reader, I certainly know you...

St James’s Parish Notice
Be it known until all persons of this parish, I publish the banns of marriage between Lord Dominic O'Connor of Downshire and Ms Leonora Mercier of Marlborough. This is the announcement of asking and if any of you know cause or just impediment as to why these two persons can not be joined in Holy Matrimony, you are to declare it, in writing. If you do not wish to declare it, you are to hold your peace, however heavy the tongue may wag or the heart may feel.
Presenting... Miss Liliana Toma (fc: anamaria vartolomei)! Congratulations Tig, you have been accepted into The Ton HQ! Please send your blog within 48 hours.
(anamaria vartolomei,) Goodness, [ LILIANA TOMA ] has arrived! [ SHE] is [ TWENTY-TWO ] , of the [ ROMANIAN] [ TOMA'S], and a [ FLORIST ] . They are [ RETURNED ] to England and the season. This author has heard they are [ ALLURING ] but also [ IMITATIVE]. Accompanied by [ HER GRANDPARENTS AND YOUNGER SISTER ] , there is much talk of their arrival and accepting calls but be warned: I have heard they [ ARE SELFISH FOR THEIR FAM
+1 Strained Relationship Connection has been added
RIYA DAS (MISHTI RAHMAN) is looking for HER FORMER LOVER. You don’t have to reach out to LUCKY at LAVIEENTON to find out more!
details:
type of connection: negative, romantic, scorned lover
fc suggestions: 25+ male, utp
age range: 29 - 32
connection details: You and Riya fell in love during one of her many trips (your choice of which one). However, after a passionate night months into their relationship, you propose and she declines the morning she is supposed to be leaving, leaving you with a broken heart and a ring.
All evening it was a dazzling night, filled with the most precious jewels that the ton had to offer with the evening being filled with elegance and intrigue. There were passionate ruby dances, whispered confessions and those who were brave enough to undertake a diamond trial. One does have to wonder if this event made certain jewels sparkle beyond recognition or was it bright to light a crack in such a precious stone? Have no doubt, dear reader, I will still endeavour to bring to light all of your secrets.
Fresh off her own scandal, Miss Harriett Barnett did not let such a thing stop her, instead she was relishing in her family’s new success, with the fortune added from her brother-in-law, Earl Peter Drake, while she orchestrated some small rebellions, correcting the band’s mistakes, talking with Miss Rosalind Murray and the trepidations of dancing with the wrong partner!
Naming a person as the diamond of the season is no easy feat and I have heard Miss Mary Barnett has accepted this title, albeit with a lot of reservations but it appears the only person she has no doubts about is Mr Frederic O’Connor. Despite their broken engagement, many had noted how Mary spent the entire evening consumed by her former fiancé. I do wonder what the former young couple had to speak about…
The new Lord Peter Drake, Earl of Orkney, has finally got what he wanted and what we all know he has been seeking since arrival. I do wonder if the new Earl knew that his title would come with being responsible for the other Barnett sisters and what trouble they may cause. There is a title now, Lord Drake, but do keep an eye on the sisters. There are some scandals even your money cannot hide.
I am shocked to hear that Mr JunHo Lytton was declared as the best jewel of the night! Adored in Rose Quartz, the Barnett’s servants presented him with a silver snuff box with rose quartz set on the lid. Inside, Mr Lytton is presented with a matching fob and watch, all entirely made of silver! It is said that Mr Peter Drake spent a small fortune on this prize!
The night was certainly not over. As Mr Lytton was presented as the gem of the night, The Dowager Queen of England arrived late, asking JunHo to kneel before her, and once he did, she decreed that he would be given The Viscounty of Northumberland. From this moment on, JunHo Lytton will now be referred to as Lord JunHo Lytton, Viscount of Northumberland, gifted with the new country estate of Cragside House.
Mx Aera Lytton devoted their evening weaving through society’s elite, but mostly many noted she was shepherding her brother JunHo, being the perfect sibling and shielding him from gossip and unwelcomed matches. If there is to be a reconciliation between the Lytton’s and Das family, we may have Aera and Riya Das to thank for it.
There were few as composed at The Barnett’s gemstone ball than Miss Ajana Elmsworth who spent the time conversing with Mr JunHo Lytton while being intrigued with Miss Eden Fox and all of her talents.
Choosing a diamond or bachelor of the season is no easy feat, especially when Mr Timothy De Vere spent his evenings withdrawing an offer of marriage from Miss Ceara Dempsy and then boasting of his charming smile to Mr Tobias Thorne! One has to wonder, has Mr De Vere set his sights on the Thorne family and their title? He would be the first American to secure such a higher rank and for that, this author is most intrigued.
Is there anything that warms the heart more than to see two newlyweds return to London? Those who caught a glimpse of Mr Nathaniel Bruce can only attest to how besotted he looked in the company of his wife. Mrs Vitoria Bruce has taken to high society quite naturally, making friends quicker than anyone could have anticipated. Despite the family’s debt, it appears that the new Mrs Bruce has done wonders in fixing the family reputation, just not their money.
It appears that a brotherly bond was not in the O’Connor’s belongings when they all arrived back from Ireland after years worth of absence! One might think it was the Lord Dominic O’Connor, the marquis of Downshire, that would set everyone’s tongues off, but it is his heir presumptive, Mr Edgar O’Connor. The Irish heir was seen alone with not just one princess but two, only they are from separate countries! One does hope that Edgar is not the cause of the strife between Princess Genevieve De La Croix of France and Princess Sophia Godwin of England. If a man who was only recently rescued from the pits of jail by his elder brother can secure two members of royalty, there is hope for you all!
Just like his heir, this author received reports of Lord Dominic O’Connor returning from a nighttime rendezvous with Miss Ceara Dempsy, both soaked to the bone! Not only that but many of you had reported that the marquis had not one but two arguments with his brothers. It appears that the O’Connor family does not do things by halves!
Frederic O’Connor did not have a simple night either! Many had mistaken his chosen gemstone as that of a garnet, something that had matched his former intended but one has to wonder if that was indeed the plan! Frederic was seen stealing glances and passing something secret to Miss Mary Barnett and one can only wonder what scandalous thing was written on it!
It appears that family-fueds may be at an end as I, along with many, was witness to Miss Rosalind Murray dancing with the son of her father’s enemy, Tobias Thorne! When she was not dallying with her father’s rival, Rosalind spent her time conversing with Nathaniel Bruce and gently sparring with Lord Dominic O’Connor. It appears that Miss Murray carries herself with grace better than others, making this author question if they had indeed chosen the right lady for the diamond of the season…
Ms Leonora Mercier returned to English shores minus her French barony and husband to match, the poor miss had nothing to show for her time in France, only her black mourning dress. While her cousin spent most of their time with Dominic O’Connor, Leonoara spent most of her time with his heir, Edgar. I have it on good authority that she and Mr. O’Connor spent a considerable amount of time wandering through the gallery, discussing all that life has to offer.
Once again we are treated to one of Princess Sophia Godwin’s dazzling dresses, as if such a thing could not remind us that the once-dazzling jewel of London has since lost her since with not one but two broken engagements under her belt. If that was not scandalous enough, some have whispered that the princess was caught sneaking off with Mr Edgar O’Connor, away from chaperones and servants. It also appears that the princess had attempted to speak to her brother, King Arthur and her sister-in-law, Queen Alisa, but the royal couple seem to be growing off this burden of a princess.
Oskar Lukeker was overheard boasting about Queen Alisa and Princess Sophia’s beauty to anyone who would listen, and the queen’s royal guard was seen dancing with the princess. One does wonder if there is something more than duty keeping Mr Lukeker’s interests? Whatever the case may be, I have it on good authority that our own royal guard is reliant on poppy, something he can not do without thanks to some poorly healed war injuries.
Consequence: Oskar’s ability to protect Queen Alisa and the rest of the royal family is called into question. When he is on duty, he must be supervised at all times. Guards have been instructed to search his rooms for the poppy and if he is to be found with any, it will be an instant dismal. I do wonder how a royal guard will cope without his crutch.
King Arthur of England graced the Barnett’s with his attendance but our gracious king sought out quiet moments of reprieve with Miss Ceara Dempsy, heated words exchanged with his sister, but more concerning was our King’s penchant for gambling with Mr Edgar O’Connor.
Similar to all of you, I have celebrated Queen Alisa’s return to London, not only did our illustrious queen rescue Miss Eden Fox and help Miss Harriett Barnett in her time of need, the queen was seen trying to direct her sister-in-law but this was to no avail. The biggest piece of information is yet to come. Our dear King had all but rinsed the country dry of funds, needing his wife to step in on his behalf. The queen had paid off her husband’s gambling debts, transferring what little remained back into the dwindling treasury.
Consequence: King Arthur’s reputation and the entire royal family have suffered a devastating blow. Within the nobility, Queen Alisa’s actions have made those within the noble ranks question the queen’s intentions and worry that she is the one in control of the country. Can the queen of England regain the favor, or will she keep at a distance?
All three Das children out and about, what a treat this has been for this author, though it does appear they have all been overshadowed by the Lytton’s and their new found success! Nalan Das refused to be held accountable by the Moonstone Appraisal's, citing my quill for such a reason, but this author has learned he plans to court not one but two people! One has to wonder if they are brave enough to dabble with someone as notorious as him.
Lady Kavika Das delighted many people, including Princess Genevieve of France, after conversing with Miss Katherine Thorne and Mr Ramón Bessette. One has to wonder if any of these three have caught the heart of our most esteemed Baroness!
Following her siblings is Miss Riya Das and while her brother has been heard trying to match her with anyone with a title, it appears that Miss Das has a fondness for opera singers as she seemed utterly charmed by Charlotte DeBelle when she wasn’t too busy trying to get a dance out of Mx Aera Lytton!
When Mr Lasaru Bessette was not busy observing the quality of the fashions on display at the ball, the esteemed modiste offered more than just his fashionable advice. Mr Bessette was heard offering counsel on love, even soothing troubled hearts and potentially expanding his clientele. He was the very image of a perfect guest, but I have learnt something unfortunate about him, it appears that Mr Bessette’s designs are not of his own creation! His more recent designs are done by his assistants and yet it is his name signed to them!
Consequence: Those in society who had paid premium prices for his work have publicly withdrawn their business while demanding compensation for this scandal. Not only that, many have informed Mr Bessette that they will now seek Miss Kaira Thanvi’s shop over his.
Mr Ramón Bessette was seen camping out on the Barnett’s balcony, preferring that over the themed dancing that was on offer, seeking sanctuary from over-eager marriage-minded people with the company of Edgar O’Connor and Oskar Lukeker but it seems he may have caught the eye of Rosalind Murray. Shall we take bets, dear reader, and see if Mr Ramón Bessette will be a future duke of Marlborough?
Miss Kaira Thanvi was most stunning in a gown of her own design and this author could not help but notice that she spent a lot of time with her supposed competition. I suspect competition is easier to snuff out when you offer your rivals kindness. I do wonder if Miss Thanvi is as generous as her reputation or if she has some secrets?
How fortunate we are, dear readers, that we have not one but two opera singers to grace our ballrooms! Miss Eden Fox has newly arrived and we are all the better for it! Dressed to honor the tanzanite gem, I have never seen anyone pay as much attention to the crowd around her, though most were left disappointed to be deprived of her voice this evening, and while she seemed to be friendly with Miss Debelle, one does wonder if two opera singers are truly friends…
Miss Charlotte De Belle has made a name for herself within the opera, but it is clear this mezzo-soprano has come to London for one thing, and one thing only, and that is to shine as bright as she can though her choice of company left everyone wondering what her intentions were or if she is indeed a good choice of character as she is a good singer. Talking with the infamous Nalan Das is one thing, but this author noted that she seemed smitten with his sister, Miss Riya Das. One has to wonder if it is the company or their fortune she is interested in.
It seems that the rain was not a deterrent for those attending the ball, not only was Princess Geneieve caught in the downpour, Miss Ceara Dempsey was seen returning, drenched to the bone and looking rather flustered. It appears that Miss Dempsey has declared herself unmarriageable, turning down an accidental proposal from our chosen Bachelor of the season, Mr Timothy De Vere. Between that and an intense conversion with Frederic O’Connor, I am most curious to know what was spoken of.
Princess Genevieve De La Criox turned more heads than I can count, dressed adorned and honouring the rare pink diamond, this author can only imagine that the French Princess declared herself the rarest of gems, outshining most in attendance. While some may question her choices such as dancing with Miss Harriett Barnett, I do wonder why she was in such a rush to meet with a certain Irish heir presumptive in the rain, and without a chaperone! It appears that the princess has all but declared her intentions and this author is curious as to what shall happen next.
Claude De Chanterelle turned heads when he arrived late. Many had questioned why the French noble was so secretive, does it have something to do with the charming Miss Charlotte DeBelle or Princess Genevieve?
Rest assured, dear readers, should you need a handsome doctor to assist you, we have it in the form of Dr Laurence Bromley! Newly returned and marked by grief, one can not help but wonder if the good doctor is in want of a husband or wife. I do wonder if his eyes have been fixed on Mr Oskar Lukeker or was such conversations more business related?
Has there ever been a minister of parliament as handsome as Mr Elliot Carlisle, this author does not think so and I would wager that Tobias Thorne also shares such sentiments as both were seen on the dance floor, many noting how flirtatious they both seemed! It appears that all Thornes were interested in the MP, as Katherine Thorne found herself engaged in a spirited exchange, trading gossip and playful jabs at each other.
Dazzled by the splendour of the Barnett’s, Miss Tessa Kwon was most certainly out of her element, instead of serving the house, she was permitted to attend as a guest, but one has to wonder if her late arrival to the ball was due to those in London’s high society not wanting to converse with a maid! It is odd to see Miss Kwon dancing with the heir of the very household that employs her, but this author is a firm believer in those working class finding some extra benefits to a hard-working life!
It is hardly a surprise to see Mr Tobias Thorne receiving attention from others but this author does not think it has ever been quite as much as this event. It was overheard that he did not give his name for a dance card with one partner and that might be for the best as the length of that card would extend far beyond use! It was not just the dancefloor but there was talk of the Thorne heir having a cigarette with Ramón Bessette, an argument with his sister and I am certain I saw his shape and a look of Elliott Carlisle slipping away near the end of the night. Perhaps or perhaps not.
There is nothing quite like seeing a servant attend any ball and Mr Albert Dawson did not disappoint dear reader. When he was not charming Miss Riya Das in the ball room, he seemed happy to comfort Miss Ceara Dempsy all before he confronted the daughter of the man he is employed by! I would love to hear what tensions may arise in the Thorne household, especially if Mr Dawson put Miss Katherine Thorne in her place!
Good morning players and tags! With the event over, we are back open for acceptances which will begin at the normal time of 8pm BST! We have a few wanted connections and some open characters we would love to see filled, but you can also bring in your own original character!
Happy Wednesday everyone! Our Gemstone Ball event ends tonight and I have loved reading everything you all have done! I'm almost done with Lady Whistledown and I can't wait for you all to read it because the secret prize will be revealed!
We would! I think they could be any gender (male mistresses could be called a paramour) and if you're apply with your own skeleton you could have them as a former mistress/paramour looking for their next keeper, a secret mistress / paramour, there is so much you can do with it!
