A letter to one in need!
Lately I’ve been reflecting on who I’ve become over the years and with that has been a huge reflection on the transition from high school to college and even a glimpse of the real world. A typical person grows tremendously when they go away to college. It’s usually the first time you are fending for yourself! Going away to college isn’t for everyone but me personally has helped me look back and notice my growth! I am proud of who I am, I am proud of the qualities i posses, and I am proud of the people i chose to keep in my life!
I stand tall because of the obstacles that have been thrown my way. Life is a constant battle of wins and losses but i think one of the most important lessons in life is to understand that we aren’t always guaranteed a tomorrow. When I reflect back to high school and think about all the little things that stressed me out i realize that today in this moment, none of that matters! One of my biggest regrets in high school was not getting the chance to be myself. I was too caught up in trying to be someone i wasn’t because i cared what everyone would think about me or say about me if i was myself.
To that high school student thats walking in the shoes i walked. You’re not alone. My biggest word of advice is to realize that five years from where you stand right now, none of this will matter. You can’t change other people, but you can change yourself. So if your currently hiding behind someone you aren’t! Make that change and let the real you out! And honestly don’t be scared to reach out for a helping hand!
Now for those of you who are watching, just remember you have no idea what goes through someones mind. It doesn’t hurt to be kind. We are the change of tomorrow! Be the reason that someone smiles on their worst day!
Life isn’t always a newly paved road, and we aren’t always promised a tomorrow but by spreading a contagious love and picking each other up when were down makes for a better day! I want you all to remember that your strength should come from all who doubt you! Let that doubt fuel you to be the best you can be!
Love Always,
B
