The Truth Zone

If I were a painter,

You'd be a no namer.

But everyone would know of you.

If I were a writer,

You'd have no title nor

Structure restraining you.

If I were a builder,

You'd last a millenia

And they would marvel you.

If I were an artist,

I would need nothing

But for my muse to be you.

I said, "Pass the yn," and everyone froze, but it took me a few moments to realize what they heard. Though you are laced across every fiber of me, you're not THEIR everything. Right down to the condiments..

"Do you know how frustrating it is to type out a message and deem it not good enough? So you delete and retype. Retype and delete. Add something new. Delete it all again. Go in a new direction. Delete some more. Over and over again. Like creating the universe only to simultaneously destroy it for what ultimately becomes eternity, only to finally send something as mundane as 'Hi, how was your day?'"

"If I were standing at the gates and I saw they were about to cart her off to hell, I would beg the angel to allow her to take my place. I would be dragged into eternal damnation if it meant she could finally live out the rest of her existence in peace. Do not speak to me like you know what it means to love her."

"Do not cast me off believing you're sending me away for the better, for I will be marooned. I will stare into the depths of every sea, hoping to catch a glimpse of the one that has doomed me to an eternity of yearning."

"And what does it tell you about me, that despite those closest to me dawning me in the light of an angel, I cast myself into the shadows with the monsters?"

Oh, to be the couch that you press against

Trusting it to hold your weary bones

Envious of the cloth thrown haphazardly

Across your skin and warms you and you alone

Wishing to be the pillow that gathers your whispers

And cradles your head, perfectly snug

All while I attempt to flee into the recesses

Of the corner with only its arm to hug

I slip into slumber as you rumble

But in the early hours, I find my leg

Claimed by yours like it has always been

The electric jolt is seizing, but vague

I break our embrace and silent as a specter

Descend and leave behind that bliss

Your fingers outstretched called out

As if saying, "Don't go. Don't ruin this."

But torment is all I know in my world

And I'll never ask you to accompany

As a sunflower, you can not take root

In the soil that was sown out of misery

It's so hard to sit in peace when war is just next door.

"My father used to hold my hand while he walked on water. Now I'm left drowning in his ocean of lies."

"Why do you adore me?"

I don't understand the question. I don't understand it because it's questioning a natural order.

I don't ask why a baby laughs. I simply continue doing the act that brings it joy.

I don't ponder why my heart is a flutter when your name pops up, nor do I smother the smile that spreads across my face.

I don't ask an artist why they chose a piece. I just marvel at the inspiration they brought to life.

I don't know why time seems to stop when you talk. I just know I want to record every word.

Why do I adore you? What a peculiar ask. What a strange inquiry. It's like asking why I woke up.

I just simply do. I don't need a reason.

My question is, would like me to stop adoring you?

I do not love her in the hopes that she will love me. I love her simply because I choose to. "

May I write in a manner that has you pressing your nose to the paper, willing the flowery scent of my words to singe into your memory forever.

I turn tentatively. My eyes blurred with my own tears. "But airplanes don't have airbags. They don't have anything to help with the crash. Only prayers that you'll survive the impact."

Moon is in love with Earth.

Earth is in love with Moon, but won't ever admit it

Because Sun pulls Earth around in circles.

So Moon chases after Earth, Earth can't let go of Moon, and Sun is none the wiser of any of it.
