Hello all -- I know this blog’s been pretty quiet, but I’m an artist and I’m trying to be more active here.

Unfortunately my first post comes under rough circumstances. Due to some issues regarding the job market in my area, I’m currently at risk of eviction, so I’m opening emergency commissions to try and stay afloat until I can find another work opportunity.

This is the type of commission work I'm opening as of right now. I’m also open to larger pieces (fully illustrated work, reference sheets, etc.) -- those can be discussed case-by-case until I set a price range for those later on.

I’ve kept my prices as low as I reasonably can right now:

• $15 – sketch w/ singular base color • $20 – sketch w/ flat colors • $30 – lineart w/ singular base color • $35 – lineart w/ color

Cell shading is not displayed in the example provided, but is optional and does not affect the base price.

Finished pieces will include a high-res PNG + PSD file.

Magic is so weird and I don't know how to explain any of it.

Like? I'm pretty sure on that version of earth, in my demidragon monster body, I can fly because magic.

Because I believe that I should be able to. Because I feel intrinsically that I am a flying creature. That sorta... attunes the magic in my body, which started un-attuned as it would be a construct made for me to transfer into.

And because I have wings, because I look like I should be able to fly, that sorta... attunes the ambient magic too. Because magic is kinda heavily influenced by thoughts and intent, so humans and monsters influence it, and they would subconsciously or consciously think "Yeah they can probably fly"

It's a feedback loop. I believe I should be able to fly. People who see me also feel that way. And the more I succeed at flying, the stronger that belief gets, because I/they saw it work already, etc.

It'd be clumsy and difficult at first, especially just because exercise and building up the muscle and stamina

unfortunately I think it'd take a lot of calories no matter what. flying tends to for animals. and magic takes calories.

The actual mechanism is interesting. Magic has rules, obviously, it can't just do anything willy-nilly.

Basically my automagic makes it so that my body is more buoyant in air than it should be. That's it. Just makes it so that the way my body interacts with air makes it a little soupier, a little denser, while also making my body's resistance to gravity a teeny bit skewed.

It only works on my actual body, meaning:

- can't carry anything more than a small bag

- can't willy-nilly jump on things as my weight still counts even if the force is reduced

- still takes a lot of effort to fly

- it justifies my weird kind of flight, as I've always felt like I would flap in a way that doesn't mesh with Earth flying physics (more like swimming, pushing the air than creating lift, etc, for more info refer to my post here)

Also I forgot to say but Monster metabolism is way way more efficient than humans/animals. We completely breakdown food matter. This is necessary and balances the fact that magic takes so much calories.
