I wish people would quit the "no one can love you if you don't love yourself" when facts are that we learn how to love ourselves through being loved by other people. Being loved is an integral part of loving yourself and there's nothing shameful about needing it.
I still can’t believe I got Kim Seon Ho and Shin Min Ah in one of the greatest dramas of all time. It was straight up a dream come true.
What I really love about how Dusik’s storyline unfolded is that Dusik has BEEN putting in the work towards healing, even before he met Hyejin. So even though we as an audience only got the full story now, Dusik has always been taking the steps towards forgiving himself. It wasn’t a single event or person (thank God they didn’t make Hyejin his rehab center) that enabled his healing. It was a combination of time, space, building new relationships, seeking professional help, trying out new experiences, being courageous with love, having important conversations and ultimately never giving up on himself and the people he cares about.
His inner demon was himself so the only person that could really allow him to heal was HIMSELF and he did it!
I will forever be grateful to the whole Homcha team for allowing his story to exist.
It is indeed a healing drama. A most beautiful one, in fact.

anyway so i feel like the western obsession with romantic love is symptomatic of the absence of community we experience in our socially isolating society,
it’s the only type of love we’re really “allowed” to have and it’s really sad. i hope everyone realizes at some point that you don’t need to be dating someone to love them, and that you don’t need any romance just to be loved.
It’s the way some of y’all keep criticizing Korean media and Korean characters without ever considering the cultural context they are in. Homcha is not meant to be viewed through a western lens so stop analyzing it through that.
Unpopular Opinion: I actually love how we haven’t gotten Dusik’s full backstory yet. The show is keeping me on the edge of my seat till the very end which is pretty uncommon for romcom kdramas where the last episodes are usually just about tying loose ends.
Overall this drama had made me experience a wide rang of emotions, has brought a variety of wonderful characters to life and told some incredible stories that so many of us can relate to. Not to mention the amazing cinematography, symbolism and dialogue as well.
The whole journey of Hometown Cha Cha Cha has been so much fun to experience and I’m so glad it hasn’t failed to impress me till the end. I’m going to be so devastated when this show is over but I know I’ll keep coming back to it for long time to experience the healing and comfort it has given me once again.
The one and only fault of episode 12 is that they didn’t included this particular part of the dimple kiss 😭 Only Shin Min Ah and Kim Seon Oh could pull off a scene where their actual dimples kiss each other but they cut it out 😭
Why am I not surprised that people immediately started policing Hyejin’s behaviour as soon as she started acting outside of their comfort zones. Y’all won’t even let fictional woman get a chance to breathe. I’M TIRED.
Once again I am reminded that tumblr is the true hellsite for fandoms. Y’all are writing think pieces about fluff???
I cannot believe there are people criticizing Hyejin for being excited about being in love and expressing her love. What the fuck does her age have to do with anything either??? IF MY GIRL (who’s a DENTIST) WANTS TO BRUSH HER BOYFRIEND’S TEETH, SHE CAN BRUSH HIS DAMN TEETH.
The writers of Homcha really decided to make a point of roasting every frustrating thing about romcom kdramas (male leads rejecting a confession to “protect” the female lead, not giving a proper reply to a confession, second leads being treated like trash, dragging a love triangle, the female lead being shy about skinship etc.) and I love them so much for it.
“I lived for 34 years without you, but each day seems to last forever since I’ve met you. Hye-jin, what’s your deal? What have you done to me?”
“I’ve heard people call my name millions of times. But it sounds unfamiliar now. As if I’ve got a new name.”
Hometown Cha Cha Cha 갯마을 차차차 | episode 11
Capitalism being the dominant ideology in the modern world is so horrifying because it only operates on the ethics of the market. To refuse to participate or compete means to die and we’re just supposed to happily accept that. Our existence as humans has been reduced to being a means of production.
the thing is, also... every discussion about Whether The MCU Is Garbage or Is Disney Irredeemably Evil or Has Star Wars Gone On Too Long or Why Does It Feel Like There's Been Just Three Shows On American TV For The Past 3 Decades inevitably ends up at "hey but don't shame people for wanting to have fun and escape the continuous nightmare of late capitalism for 2 hours a night" and like. fair. being effortlessly entertained is a valid desire that deserves to be fulfilled. but the thing is. and I really don't wanna be That Guy but. if you're coming back home from your soul-crushing corporate job into your alienated nuclear household, tired from a busy day of doing some bullshit to make a living, and you feel dead inside, and your idea of escape is to tune into the next installment of something that's not really cinema as much as like, a long serialised commercial for the fast fashion items with the popular character of the month, then I'm sorry bro but you're not really going anywhere. you're not escaping, you're sinking deeper in. and look. it's your god given right to watch schlocky TV and then go read fanfic about it. but if you're wondering why all this dazzling entertainment still leaves you feeling so empty you just wanna scream and scream and scream, then you might actually have an acute case of going too long without consuming any media that has an intent beyond draining your money and time and a formula beyond regurgitating what sold best last year
People have argued this subject for as long as media has existed at all, and for most of my life I absolutely felt that it was just pretentious of people to complain about movies getting dumbed down or soulless...but they still had a point and it really has gone far enough in the last few years that there’s no denying it anymore, you can see how fast Disney is churning things out, how much they’ve streamlined it down to a reusable formula, how careful they are to appeal to as many demographics as possible and how they have all the merchandising ready to go from day one. So yes, every loud-mouthed movie critic was right, Hollywood mainstream cinema has steadily deteriorated into a mind-numbing cash grab and there’s finally little room to deny it or argue that it’s harmless, because it also means a whole lot of people overworked, underpaid, under-credited and artistically stifled at every level of production.
OP may sound harsh and all but they’re still quite clearly stating that there’s a problem with overly commercialized megaconglomerate filmmaking and they even explain that it’s fine to like whatever you want if you really like whatever. And yet the notes are still full of passionately angry responses like they actually just said to stop having fun or actually said anything passing any kind of judgment on any fandom. People really don’t take time to process the meaning of posts before getting riled up about them. If it HURTS just to see someone say “I wish these pieces of fiction were made with more loving care” your investment in that fiction might be going too far.
Oh fuck. I’m entering my watching all my friends get married phase of life. I did not sign up for this shit. How do I unsubscribe??? Help
