Weighted down with Sorrow
My latest experience with Yahoo kinda pushed me down the memory lane and I embarked on a quest to track down my old accounts and see if they still existed.
Found the old blog; the Pinterest, Vimeo and about.me accounts. Quite a nostalgic trip reading my old posts; looking at the things i’d liked - and my general state of mind; likes/dislikes during that phase.
Icing on the cake was the old archived website ( on geocities) from a course on security I used to run back in college - circa 2005!
ok. So, something good came out of the Yahoo disaster?
Nah! still mad at them for what they did
Again! Fuck you Yahoo!
Fuck you Yahoo!
So I happened to log into my yahoo email a/c today - may be after a couple of years. ( I mean, seriously, who uses it anymore?)
I was greeted with a new email look and 0 emails!
0 in inbox
0 in saved
0 in sent
Everything, completely wiped out! Apparently, yahoo does that if you don’t login for 12 months. No warnings, no emails. Just deleted everything!
I’d created the a/c when I was in college. It had emails, pics, documents from my coursework; from old friends who I no longer speak to, but reminisce of our times once in a while; from (now) dead professors; from that old flame whose whereabouts I no longer know, but is still part of my being. My emails from the first ever course I took, the cringe emails from my teenage years - when all my written communication defied all rules of grammar and formal writing.
I have no backups of these.
20+ years of memories just wiped clean.
But O’ well! Yahoo saved a few bytes in the process.

Worth it?
Would the pain be any less if I were to just end it....
p.s. It is funny that the ones who could possibly answer this are not in this realm...
It seems reasonable to suppose that the knowledge that one will have to carry out one's own recommendations or that this task will fall to others, probably affects some design choices which the individual designer is called upon to make. Most design activity requires continually making choices, Many of these choices may be more than design decisions; they may also be personal decisions the designer makes about his own future. As we shall see later, the incentives which exist in a conventional management environment can motivate choices which subvert the intent of the sponsor.[1]

Suits Ending
Now that the show is coming to an end soon, here’s how I’d want it to end.
* Harvey & Donna get married. Having spent almost all their life at work, talking only about work, they decide to take a break from it and go on a long vacation to spend time together. (That would mean Harvey & Donna call it quits from Specter Litt Wheeler Williams)
* Samatha’s been not her self ever since Zane left & perhaps misses a father figure in her life. She decides to leave and find her biological parents. She ends up living in that area and taking up cases fighting for the little-guy
* Louis and Sheila have a daughter. Louis gets the Judgeship opportunity again and decides to take it this time - with Harvey & Donna gone.
* Katrina is made a named partner (& perhaps the Managing one too) making the new name of the firm as Bennett Williams.
* With Louis gone, Gretchen also calls it quits. She realizes she has done it long enough. (Perhaps Louis offers her a job somewhere in the courthouse??)
* Benjamin is the VP of IT & is moved up from the basement (??)
* Katrina and Brian do not end up together. That is important for Katrina’s growth. She ends up meeting someone in the final few scenes.
* Jessica is still embroiled in Chicago politics. (She will end up becoming Mayor of Chicago someday - but that’s for Pearson to deal with )
The last scene of the show is a montage of everyone happy in their homes & Katrina marching into the bull-pen to give a speech to the new associates - like how her mentor, Louis used to do (except for the berating part)
The lesson to be learned from this is that it is often undesirable to go for the right thing first. It is better to get half of the right thing available so that it spreads like a virus. Once people are hooked on it, take the time to improve it to 90% of the right thing.
