An Iridescent Palace of Rainbows by Kimsooja
In 2006, South Korean multi-disciplinary conceptual artist Kimsooja transformed the Palacio de Cristal in Madrid into a multi-sensory installation called To Breathe â A Mirror Woman, which experimented with the sensitivity of light and sound. The iridescent colors projected through the space are a result of a unique translucent diffraction film, which covered the windows. To intensify the rainbow spectrum throughout the room, a mirrored surface was also added to the entire floor. In addition to altering the experience of sight for the viewer, Kimsooja added an audio recording of her breathing throughout the space to intensify the ethereal moment. The results were grand, yet intimate and surreal.Â

âDamn,â Esprit mumbled under her breath, looking as though the fact that he had none was a personal mark against the entire earth and all its populous. She perked up immediately afterwards though. âWhatâs the other food? - no wait dun get it yet.â And she threw her arms around him, clinging to him and a tight hug. âOi m-issthed âoo,â she mumbled against his chest.Â
"Gah!" Azure pretended to be suffocating at the hug, before laughing and hugging her back, just as tightly. He had missed her, quite a bit, but it was unlikely he could stay for long. He still had things he needed to do -- what those things were, not even the gods knew -- and they had to be done soon. But Esprit didn't need to know that.Â
Well, at least, Azure wouldn't tell her. Â
"I missed ya too, ya monster." He said, ruffling her hair anD getting his fingers caught in her curls. "AH! IT'S EATING ME, ESPRIT YOUR HAIR IS TRYING TO EAT ME!"
âThere flees my only amusement for the month. Such a pity,â he comment, words deadpan as his expressionless face. With a groan, he pressed a thumb and finger to the bridge of his nose. âWhy do you burden yourself with that insolent bastard?âÂ
"Perhaps you should take up a hobby. It would provide you with more entertainment, and perhaps would halt the growing of mold that I see has began to take hold of you." Venise said, watching in mild amusment as Azure ran away and Vellichor sighed. Venise gave a small shrug of his shoulders, the movement strangely elegant.Â
"He has his uses. Excellent for target practice. He can't run very far." Whether or not he was joking, was unclear. "And he is my brother. If nothing else, I have his loyalty."
Once upon a time... [Vel/Ven]
Vellichorâs eyes narrowed a bit farther. âWhat have you come to my city for.â A bit of a growl still laced his words. âI did not recall voicing a desire for vain bastards, but if you so wish to fulfill the roll of floor rug, who am I to deny?âÂ
After some hesitation, he poked his sandaled toes into the side of Veniseâs leg, non too gently, pulling his foot away as soon as he had. âYou will need to prostrate yourself on some other part of the floor, these rooms grow stale with the door closed.â
"Your city?" Venise asked, a hint of amusement in his voice. "Are you ruler of this sorry excuse of an empire? Would explain plenty, if you were." The arrogance in his words were clear, but faded as he scowled at Vellichor's touch. Standing, he adjusted his clothes.
"Is that what happened to you? Did you leave the door closed for too long while you took up residence, and began to stale? I don't believe I have ever experienced such a rude welcome."
Some people would rather live in a hell theyâve got used to than in a paradise theyâve never experienced before.

In Which Familiars are a Thing
@thesoultwins
Varmaxia's center bustled with people, the crowd surrounding Yuuka and Vellichor as the former lead the latter along the marketplace Shops and stalls of all kinds lined the street, some more hidden than others, selling things less than legal, while others appeared to be one thing, but were something else. Vials full of mysterious concoctions decorated one store window, different colours mixed-and-matched, swirling within their bottles. One bottle appeared to have an eye floating in it. As they passed the window, Yuuka spared a brief glance, almost crying out when the eye blinked. That was enough of that. Swallowing, he led Vellichor further in, the prickling scent of magic violating their senses, the sounds of people buying and selling tainting the air;Â
"Get yer pixies, here! Â 2.60 a piece, 5 a bag!" "Fresh griffon heart! Fresh griffon heart! Ya ain't be gettin' better!" "Pickled harpy eggs! Â Great for ye spells and soups!"Â
Yuuka shuddered at the mention of pickled harpy eggs. They were absolutely vile in soups, and frankly, damn useless in spells. He also questioned the griffon heart; you weren't going to find something like that here. He shook his head, turning and looking at Vellichor.Â
"How are you holding up? We're almost there."

When we donât know who to hate, we hate ourselves.
Chuck Palahniuk, Invisible MonstersÂ
Let me repeat that we Weasels mean no harm. You may have read that we are vicious hunters, but this is absolutely not the case. Pure bias on the part of your National History Book. Hear, hear. We are long, slim-bodied carnivores with exceptionally short legs and we have never denied this. Furthermore, anyone here today could put a Weasel down his trouser leg and nothing would happen. Weasel laughter. Which is more than can be said for the Ferrets opposite. You can trust a Weasel, let me continue, a Weasel does not break the spinal cord of its victims with one bite. Weasel cheers. Our brown fur coats turn white in winter. And as for eggs, here is a whole egg. It looks like an egg. It is an egg. Slurp. An egg. Slurp. A whole egg. Slurp ... Slurp . . .
- Weasel Words, Carol Ann Duffy
It was explained to Sir Robert Armstrong that âweasel wordsâ are âwords empty of meaning, like an egg which has had its contents sucked out by a weaselâ.
Once upon a time... [Vel/Ven]
âIt was vastly more necessary than your presence here. Get out.â He banged on the door with the back of his fist for emphasis, eyes narrowing on the other. They narrowed a bit farther after that, the manâs aura finally coming into view.
âBy the godsâŚâ He took a step back, the hand he had slammed against the door now clutching the nearest shelf. âWhy are you here,â he snarled. He had never met the man before in any part of his life he could remember, but one look at his aura was enough to figure out who exactly he was.
Venise was about to argue, when Vellichor spoke a though he recognised him. With the furrow of his brow, he replied.
âI wanted silence and peace from the outside ruckus,â he said, carefully. âIt was⌠becoming too much.
