Jan Matejko - Stańczyk
No one knows what goes through the jester's mind.
A clown sits alone in silence. Serious expression, vacant stare. Behind him, the court of the powerful continues dancing. A woman flutters her fan, unaware of what has just transpired. On the table, a letter has just been opened. It said: "Smolenks - 1514. The city has fallen."
And he is the only one who knows. Everyone else celebrates a false victory. But he cannot move. He is the jester, and today is no laughts.
