“I am Diana of Themyscira, daughter of Hippolyta, and your wrath upon this world is over.”
You know what’s REALLY unnerving about Ares? Everybody expects Ares to be Ludendorff. And why wouldn’t they? Ludendorff is a violent, warmongering antagonist that wanted to prolong the war. Why wouldn’t he be the god of war himself?
But no. It turns out, Ludendorff was just a human. A totally normal human being with flaws and temptations. Just a human. So who is Ares?
Turns out the god of war was hiding as the person advocating for peace the whole time. He talked about peace for the whole second act, but was interrupted time and time again by men who are unwilling to listen. He was the one fighting for peace. He was the one who gave Diana and gang the money to send them to the front lines.
What makes him such a good villain is that he brings out the worst in humanity. He wasn’t the direct cause of the war, he was only there to fan the flames. He even tried to douse it to some extent as Sir Patrick, but the fire grows stronger. He knows that it is human nature to fight. He was only there to encourage that instinct. If you think about it, the true villain of the Wonder Woman movie isn’t Ares, but humanity itself.
One thing I really love about Wonder Woman was whenever Steve didn’t think Diana could do something, it wasn’t because she was a woman, it was because he didn’t think ANYONE could do it, and whenever she proved him wrong Steve would go with whatever the hell she was doing and become her personal cheerleader
#need some help? #no? #okay cool #great job babe
She took in the city’s skyline, the bridges, the quays, remembering the beauty of Themyscira with a pang - and fresh determination. War had done this to this city. Once Ares was dead, it would become habitable again. “It’s hideous,” she said bluntly.
Mildly amused, appreciative of her frankness, Steve took in Whitehall - the Houses of Parliament- and St.Paul’s Cathedral. It would be difficuld for her to comprehend the sense of relief this skyline engendered in him. She had lived in an untouched Eden. But for him, this had pretty much become home - if a spy in the middle of a war actually had home. A home base, then. Same for her, since she couldn’t return to Themyscira. She must be going through six hundreds kinds of culture shock. She had stepped into this world of her own volition, but it had to be hard for her to deal with. He felt for her.
I’ve killed things from other worlds before.
one thing i liked about “wonder woman” was that diana is UNDENIABLY a strong woman but isn’t forced to sacrifice her compassion and love for that strength. too often “strong women” are portrayed as cold, unfeeling, as if emotions and love are weaknesses; diana, however, is entirely motivated by compassion and love for humanity. she doesn’t fight for fighting’s sake, she fights for the eradication of war and pain and misery and, above all, for love. she feels for every human being and isn’t afraid to hide that.
idk. i think it’s pretty cool that WW took a trait that is generally considered to be feminine and therefore weak and made it one of diana’s greatest strengths.

I thought I was going to be fired because I just kept laughing. I also thought it would be funny to say lines that weren’t in the script just to make others laugh and ruin their take. – Lucy Davis
