Wegdromen met The World Of Dust Stefan Breuer komt uit Bilthoven. Als The World Of Dust maakt hij lo-fi indie muziek van het experimentele
Interview alert! A while ago, I spoke at length with Alex van der Meer for Ondergewaardeerde Liedjes about my new album 13 Holy Nights. We talked about what makes this album different, spirituality and lo-fi. It's actually a pretty in-depth, good longread. You can read it here, hope you like it too.
Hi everybody,
I hope you like my new album 13 Holy Nights, released today on Tiny Room Records! I had a good time writing and recordings these songs. They're all based on dreams I had during the winter solstice 2 years ago. I recorded this batch on a Tascam 388 tape recorder, with an Ensoniq sampler as the main instrument. This is the sound I want The World of Dust to have, I am proud of this album.
The LP version will arrive in a few weeks. The CDs are in already and will be send right away. All your support is super welcome. Go to the Tiny Room Bandcamp to order or look up the album on the streaming device of your choice.
Peace and love,
Stefan
My debut album Bhava is 10 years old today! I am still very proud of the lo-fi prog achievement of that record, plus it was the start of my collage making journey. Who would have expected that ten years later I would have ten releases out in the world (of dust)?
Bhava came out on Snowstar Records on Dec 13th, 2013. To celebrate, right here is a brand new live video made by my awesome friend Ab al Tamimi of the song Shapes (in a medley with the song X), the first song off Bhava - originally sung by Thijs (I am Oak).
The CD reissue of Bhava is now available on the Tiny Room Bandcamp page for the anniversary price of € 1, for the rest of December. Don't sleep on it :)
My new live album is out! What you see here is the front cover of the vinyl-only release, a beautiful photo by my dear friend Ab al Tamimi. The record is called 'A Parallel Universe Inside', which is a line taken from the lyrics of Parable. My friend Kristóf Hajós used it in his review/blog of the recorded show and that gave me the idea of using it as the title. The subtitle 'Live at De Groeverij' indicates it took place in De Groeverij, an awesome record store in Houten. It is the first release on their label, which fills me with pride and joy! So head on over to the webshop of De Groeverij or to my World of Dust Bandcamp page and buy one of those 100 copies! It will not be available digitally, just on a slab of black wax.

Big news! Next week my first official LIVE ALBUM will be released! It's a recording of the Gaman release show, performed in De Groeverij in Houten last September. It's called 'A Parallel Universe (Inside)' and it will be the first release by De Groeverij as a record label. 100 copies were made.
As you can see, I'm super happy with this release! It was a special evening and I am really proud of the performance and sound on this one - if you like what I do live, I think you're gonna dig this. It contains songs from almost every album, including a new one that I'm still working on.
You can listen to 'Gospel (live)' now on SoundCloud.
And preorder the vinyl-only release on the site of De Groeverij.

THANK YOU thank you thank you for making the release show yesterday such a heartwarming, intimate and relaxing experience. The crowd was so quiet, attentive and lovely. The hosts at De Groeverij were nice and welcoming as always. Ab al Tamimi made beautiful photos. The Wrong Reasons opened with a great set that reminded me of the Posies. And I think I played one of my better shows so far.

Woohoo! My new album is out today! Even after being involved in quite a lot of albums before this one, I am still so excited. Gaman is my 8th album as The World of Dust and it is available on vinyl, cd and on all streaming platforms.
I feel like it's my best album so far, but luckily I think that every time. Still! This feels like the record where, consciously and subconsciously, a lot of things come together. The album feels focused and detailed to me, but also loose and relaxed. Of course I worked hard on it - it's been years in the making. Plus there are beautiful contributions by talented guests. It is professionally mixed and mastered, the artwork has been taken care of down to the last detail. But I never dreamed that it would all fall into place so beautifully. It feels like it has been touched by an invisible magical spark. A small, spiritual, inexplicable event. I am proud, but I also feel lucky the album was hit by such a spark.
So thanks to all who contributed. And a big thanks to Cam at Hidden Shoal and Bernhard at Lousy Moon Records for going on this trip with me.
And of course, thanks to everyone who will listen to it, digitally or physically.

Today is the day that you can pre-order my new album Gaman! It comes out on LP and CD. Both look really fancy. The sleeves have been reverse printed, so it's got a nice, grainy matte finish to it. There's also a full colour booklet with lyrics included. The pressing sounds great too.
PRE-ORDER HERE!
Today it's also Bandcamp Friday. That means that if you buy it today, I don't have to pay Bandcamp a fee. That really adds up for me, with every order.
It's also possible to order it with a DM (stefanbreuer at gmail dot com), for instance if you live in or around Utrecht. I can drop your copy off next week! All other orders will ship right away - no need to wait until release day with all those boxes in my attic. Thank you so much for the support everybody. I really hope you all connect with this album, which I think is my best one yet.
Release show announcement! On September 17, I will perform a special solo set in celebration of my new album Gaman (that comes out the day before on LP and CD). The lovely folks of record store De Groeverij are hosting it, so it's time to pay a visit to Houten! Only 30 tickets available, get them here: https://groeverij.nl/product/zaterdag-17-september-the-world-of-dust-live-album-release-gaman-2/
My new single is out today 😲 Trasenster is the first song off my album Gaman, to be released in September. I am super proud of this song and album, that I consider a "big release". A lot of time and energy went into making this record... And now is the first time I am sharing it with the outside world. I am so curious what you all think! Trasenster is about finding peace within yourself while being part of the outside world. My brother Arno plays acoustic bass and my friend Tamara sings the heavenly backing voice on it. There are only acoustic instruments on this album: harmonium, guitar, banjo, ukelele, piano, etc. Listen to the song on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer. But there's also a video! Directed by my 8-year old daughter Marie.

Surprise release! I spontaneously decided to put out an album today. Only available on cassette (edition of 15) and Bandcamp.
Ikigai (生き甲斐, 'a reason for being') is a Japanese concept referring to a motivating force, something that gives a person a sense of purpose, a reason for living. For me, that's making albums on a 4-track cassette recorder.
So here you go: 13 new lo-fi songs and experiments, things I've recorded over the past few years. Enjoy!
New video and interview on The Daily Indie! https://www.thedailyindie.nl/in-premiere-de-bevrijdende-dagboekfunctie-van-world-of-dust/
The music video for Sailing was made by my old friend from Norwich, the artist and musician Mark Jennings (also known as Master Solo). You can see the video at the bottom of this great interview that Niels from The Daily Indie did with me about the video, the last album, and the personal story behind it.
It was also a good time to finally share that beautiful promo pic that Maarten Boswijk shot last year. :)

Do you want to know what music inspires me? And in particular while writing and recording True Sound? Then check out this playlist I made on Spotify. It's got similar stuff, kindred vibes that I am relating to and that remind me of what kind of music I want to make: genuine, intimate, meditative.
Listen here for almost two hours of that. Featuring The For Carnation, Unwound, Tindersticks, Gravenhurst, Nick Drake, Circus Devils and more.
Listen to this episode from Headphone Garbage on Spotify. Daniel Beech chats with The World of Dust AKA Stefan Breuer about his new album "True Sound".
You can hear the full interview I did with Headphone Garbage on Spotify now. Thirty minutes of me stumbling through different topics with my low radio voice, who doesn’t want that? We are talking about genre-transcending music, what kind of stuff inspires me, the new album and how I met Todd Tobias, the difference with the bands I am playing in, and lots & lots more. Listen now!
