I change my mind about a lot of things very often. Clothes I wore every day have been donated, I don’t even know where my best friends from high school live anymore, my favorite food is different than it was last year, my favorite song is different than it was last week. There are very few things I need and the things I want can be different tomorrow. So the fact that I keep coming back to you means something because if something stands the test of time with me it’s rare and it matters. But never forget that I don’t need you, I want you. And that’s the only reason you’re here.

We weren’t your ideal couple. My hand didn’t fit in his perfectly. We didn’t resemble a sunset but a rain storm the ones that come all at once with no warning. Car rides didn’t spark endless singing to terrible songs but mostly silence. But ohh did I love him. I loved the way his hands wouldn’t know what to do when we kissed or how he never wanted to pick any place we went even tho it was frustrating. I loved the way he smelled when we laid on the couch lazy and in love. He didn’t always say the right things. But it was comfortable… Our beautiful chaos was comfortable.

You didn’t see the chaos of my mind at 2am. After my distractions were tucked in to bed and away for the night. You didn’t see the flood of tears hidden under teal sheets in lonely dorm rooms. You played me like your puppet and I let you pull every string because isn’t control comforting? Don’t the bruises spell I love you? Every tug of the string just a hug. You used me and then left. Without a goodbye or explanation as to why. You left and it broke the only thing still alive in me. You left and I’m not ready to accept that.
