And Scene, Maybe, I Don’t Know

Hello everyone, I’m a novice writer.

This is an early morning post because I kinda burned my brain out editing.  Also, I have a habit of doing things in a certain order.  If I plan on writing a chapter before posting a blog, I follow that order (even tho I have no reason to do that.  It in facts puts me behind, but we will save that for another blog).

Anyway, writing a scene is difficult for me.  I have no problem starting out a scene when its the beginning of the chapter.  Its the middle and transitioning scenes that wreck me.  For whatever reason, I always feel I’m not doing it right.  Like I need paragraph of description that starts it off.  But I know that its not warranted if it is indeed not called for.  I don’t know, its always been a thing that bothered me.

Anyway, this is a short post, with a side of rambling lol.  I wanted to have something here instead of missing another day (Although I still missed another day).  Next week, I’ll be better with my schedule.  That’s all for now

Not So Editor’s Choice

Hello everyone.  I'm a writing novice. I have a love hate relationship with editing.  I love it because I get to go back through my work and implement different ideas to flush it out or add more impact to it.  I hate it because I run into a brick wall of fears and uncertainty on whether or not the edits will make sense.  And what's annoying is I always say to myself, "I got this!  Editing will be easy."  Then the reality sets in and kicks me in the writer's face.  I go on to the next chapter, say the same thing, get the same kick to the face.  Rinse and repeat. To use a video game example, it's a respawning boss fight that returns when I walk back in to the same level.  And sometimes I see the room but I accidentally walk back into it.  Literally, it feels like it's impossible to avoid that respawning boss.  I will explore the whole level of a game and booya, open a hidden back door that leads straight back to the room.  But I digress (watch, I bet I used the term improperly lol). Anyway, it's a work in progress with this battle.  I attribute it to me being self-conscious about my work.  This year it's better and I feel a lot more comfortable.  But the struggle is still there.

Titles

Hello everyone.  I'm a novice writer

 You know those fantasy games where they throw you right in the action in the tutorial, and you have to learn the controls before fighting a boss battle, but you think you're OP (overpowered) enough to fight it just because you wrecked a few NPCs, but you get one shot instead?  That’s how it feels with me when it comes to giving a name to a story.  Except the fantasy is real life, the tutorial is me going over story ideas, the part where I think I’m OP is me thinking that the title will be ezpz, the boss is the title, and the one shot is me getting owned when I quickly learn that naming a story is like cracking a code.

Ok, maybe that's a bit of a stretch, but basically it's difficult at times for me to name a story.  When I started to write the Deity, I didn't have too much difficulty with the title.  Its original one was Godmode, based off the mode that's a cheat code in some games allowing the player to be invincible.  But after going over the title and story, along with my family hearing my idea, I eventually came up with the current name it has now.  As for Return the Heart, that was that boss battle I mentioned earlier.  I originally thought about calling it The Damocles, except it didn’t feel like it matched the story.  I asked a friend of mine about a name and talked about the story.  Thus Return the Heart was born.  But still I felt like it wasn't the proper name.  So I kept hitting reset on that fantasy game, thinking I could beat that boss battle (yea, I’ve actually done this before).  Or to simply put, I rattled my brain trying to realize that the name I was suggested actually made perfect sense.

Naming a book to me is like making a book cover.  I have to picture it in my head in order for it to make sense.  If I can't imagine it, even if it makes perfect sense, my brain will tap me on the shoulder and be like, "Naw bruh.  You need a better one."  Meanwhile I'm sitting there like, "why doe?"

So I hope this all makes sense.  Sometimes I think I’m just rambling and making zero sense.
