“i’ve seen some pretty weird shit too, but nothing like this.” cassie admitted, a small smile over her lips. “at least i don’t have to worry about her being an evil clone hellbent on stealing my life.”

“yeah well welcome to my life. home has doppelgangers, gargoyles, crazy psycho uncles, and one of my best friends is a werewolf, witch, and a vampire,” she said with a nod. “no she’s definitely not evil,” she replied with a fond smile.

Scott presses his lips into a thin line, looking unamused as the realization dawns on him that their lives were probably far from normal. “Glad I got you to catch me up then.” He says genuinely, and he smiles, “But pardon me if I thank this life for being as normal as it can be. Or so I think.”

kitty had just really gotten used to the fact that none of their lives were normal. it was just how it was. they were mutants, x-men. they hadn’t signed up for the normal life. and kitty was fine with it. “well i’ve definitely got stories to tell you if you want. but it’s probably kinda freaky to find all this out, huh?” she asked. “a sense of normality is kind of nice sometimes. i mean i tried for a little while.”

“never been too naboo, it’s supposed to be beautiful,” she smiled - the girl had been to quite a few planets, but never naboo. “oohhhh, okay - so you were trained by luke, that’s cool - ahsoka tano trained me, is still training me, her master was, is your master’s father!” 

“well i haven’t been there for a long time. i mean i left when i was a kid to go study jedi ways and all,” she replied. “it was, though,” she added with a nod. “yup. by luke. i met her. she’s pretty cool. yeah this whole thing is just a tangle of people.”

“ well, sometimes the road to government doesn’t always begin with a political science major.” maddie’s own road hadn’t started with that, a design major in school until her father pushed another way. “ have you applied to the washington ballet? i know some of the staff there, they tend to like my spring donation.” she could admit, she played into her slytherin tendencies of making contributions so she could pull strings here and there. 

stormie tilted her head. “you really think i would belong in government? i mean i work here but i totally don’t get the whole complexities of it,” she replied with a blink. she’d honestly never thought about it. “uhm no not yet. but i would honestly love to be there,” she said with a small smile, thinking about what it would be like to be in a proper company.

“because we all know you - you’re my daughter and everyone else who’s saying that are your siblings.” ewan was getting pretty sick of all of this - he’d only just got maddie back and now he was determined to get stormie back to her normal self. “you’re clearly suppressing all of the bad memories - stormie, we died, you need to remember so we can be a family again and we can figure everything out.” he sighed slightly. “the death eaters came looking for marlene because of the order, because she was fighting against you know who and killed everyone, but we all put up a hell of a fight, I’ll tell you that.” 

stormie shook her head. everything felt fuzzy. she shut her eyes for a moment, overwhelmed by flashes in her head that she didn’t immediately recognize. all the people who had been talking to her, telling her this different life she led. everyone seemed angry at her for not knowing them and she hated it. this wasn’t her fault. she shook her head again. her head snapped up when he told her that they’d all died. “we....we what?” she breathed. more flashes. they were getting more intense. flashes of light, people waving sticks, blood. her head hurt so much. she groaned and squeezed her eyes shut. and then everything flooded back to her with a force that pushed her against the wall. her whole life, her death, everything. she looked around, her wide green eyes landing on him. “d-daddy?” she whispered.

“hey, you don’t need to be embarrassed to need help,” he frowned slightly. “there’s plenty of room, I don’t think anyone will mind one more room being occupied - anakin might have some gripe about it, but he’s moping, so just ignore him.” he sighed slightly. “it really isn’t fine, you died because I killed you, I died in my own right, by my own choosing, you didn’t,” he hated himself for what he did, people he once called his friends, he’d killed them all. “oh, really, where?” he asked, smiling slightly. “I’m glad I’m back too, I think my family was starting to fall apart if I’m honest.” 

“i spent a lot of time taking care of myself and then now i can’t seem to get past the park bench. it’s a little embarrassing,” she explained softly. she gave him a small smile. “still as stubborn as ever. alright, i’ll let you win this one then,” she added gently. “it doesn’t matter anymore is my point. we’re both here. we can both start over and you’re not nearly as annoying since you’re back to you now,” she teased, bumping his shoulder. “uh this guy named lando. found me in the park when i was sick one day and offered to give me a place to stay.” she let out a chuckle. “of course. how could they ever manage without you?”

“yes, of course,” he paused. “why wouldn’t I be serious?” he asked, raising a brow at the girl. “you’re clearly in need and I have an extra room that isn’t being used - you need help and I’m giving you some help,”

“well i mean you don’t really know me. most people who see a homeless girl, don’t usually offer a place to live. trust me on that one,” she replied. “but thanks. that’s nice. and i can’t deny that a bed would be....really nice. i’m kymber.”

Emma nodded at the seat, and Chuck sat down, smiling. Okay, so her dad hadn’t talked to her. Dean hadn’t spread lies about him. That was a relief. He wanted to ask her about how work was going, if she was enjoying it. Small talk. But then she tilted her head, and he knew, before she’d even asked, that she had something on her mind. And then asked it. Why lie?

Oh. Maybe it was because she spoke so softly, or because it was just such a blunt way to ask. He didn’t know why, but something about it affected him. He opened his mouth, and closed it again, lost for words. “I…” he began, quietly. “I guess I didn’t know how you’d react? Dean – your dad and I… we’ve had our differences.” He paused, and realised he needed more to go off than just you knew my dad. So he said, “How much did Dean tell you? What d’you know?” He clasped his hands together and leaned forwards, with his elbows on the table, trying out a look of paternal patience.

emma offered him a small smile in return as he sat down. she had genuinely enjoyed talking to him before. before dean had told her about how he wasn’t to be trusted. but she had to know. she wasn’t good with lying. she had to know why he’d lied. 

she sat there patiently, her eyes sad. she wanted to like him, wanted to trust him. even though her father had told her not to. old habits died hard, she supposed. she didn’t want to live her life with distrust of everyone she met. she nodded. she was a winchester. “so you haven’t gotten along?” she asked. she shrugged. “not a whole lot. he just said not to trust you. but you were so nice when i met you. i just...i wanted to know why,” she answered. “i don’t like lying.”

Scott listens as Kitty lists on about how weird it was that he had an alleged family here in his alleged real world when in reality, or allegedly, he was actually a whole different person. All these allegations make Scott’s head hurt, but he’s glad that Kitty was pushing to help him. Honestly? As strange as it might be, he’s glad she’s around. “Maybe. But then again, it sounds as bizarre as aliens in the sky right?”

kitty was sure that her own head was going to hurt with all of this at some point. it was confusing and she didn’t have enough variables to try and put it all together yet. but she would. she wanted everyone back to normal. “yeahhh aliens definitely is on the list of things we’ve seen,” she chuckled. “sorry scott. you got a lot to catch up on.”

“oh, look, another thing we agree on. normal is just so… bland.. like, who really enjoys being normal?” she laughed. “i’m not sure they would, so let’s just agree to not bring that storm on them just yet,” she said, a smile forming on her lips. 

lizzie chuckled. “this is just weird. but i guess it’s not a bad weird. it gets tiring fighting with people,” she admitted with a nod. she was trying to be more open. trying to fix herself. “yeah i don’t even think our people are ready for a full on war,” she agreed as they reached the coffee shop. “i guess i should probably start with the end of the school year. right after you left. geez you missed a lot.”

She seemed pleased to see him. That was nice. Dean obviously hadn’t got to her. Chuck kept smiling warmly, and he was actually pleased to see her. She was a good kid. “Yeah? That’s good,” he replied. “I’m great too, thanks. Still getting by, y’know how it is.” Actually, she didn’t. She had no idea how it was for him, really. If Dean hadn’t told her who he really was, or spread some bullshit lies about him, the way he had to Mary, then Emma had no clue who he was. But that was a relief. People knowing who he was always came with questions, and anger, and way too much drama.

When she said it was just her, he glanced at the seat and said, “D’you mind if I…?” And, before waiting for her to reply, sat down opposite her. If she wasn’t busy, she wouldn’t mind catching up, right? “So… What you been up to?” He wanted to keep it light. He didn’t wanna ask about her relationship with Dean, in case she wondered why he was curious. And, actually, he didn’t want to talk about Dean. He was sick of being so laser-focused on that kid.

she knew that her father didn’t want her to trust chuck. but she was also, well, her. emma believed in trying to find the good in people. she believed in making friends and giving people a chance. she always had. at least after purgatory, she had. dean was the one who taught her that. he was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt and she had failed him. she wanted to give that to other people. “yeah. that’s good. i suppose so.” 

she offered a small smile and nodded, gesturing to the seat across from her. she’d just been trying to get out of her head. maybe talking to someone else would help. “oh not much i guess. work, school, getting dumped. the usual,” she said with a small shrug and a sigh. she tilted her head. “why didn’t you tell me that you knew my dad?” she asked softly. “why lie?”

Peter: probably the day he came to my apartment.

Morgan: how’d he save you?

Peter: well, it was more of an emotional thing.

Morgan: were you okay?

morgan tilted her head. “uncle thor. come on, you’re super special,” she assured him. “you’re super fun and you pay attention and you listen and you spoil me which i am very grateful for. i mean come on, mr. god of thunder,” she told him with an affectionate smile. “well i am too. otherwise i wouldn’t be here. i mean i’ve heard the stories but they’re all different from the dad i knew, ya know?”

“ i happen to know a fair amount of nerds, ones i like very much.” she thought about the few she could consider nerds in her life, be it their love of school or non-traditional things. smiling at those memories, she crossed her arms. “ i guess it’s your lucky day. you get to be older than I am.” jean joked, though she didn’t quite know how to handle it, if all her friends were now older than her. did this make her the baby of the group?

“well look at that. perfect,” she laughed with a nod. she had always been good at technology. it made sense to her. she smiled back at the red head before scrunching her nose. “nah i never wanted that. i like being the younger one. gets me attention,” she joked playfully. “probably doesn’t matter cause i will still probably be treated like the younger. kurt and i act younger. we’re the pranksters.”

“ not when they’re threatening to take me down.” he snarked back, though he didn’t actually mind them. he’d gone long enough in the city, without his family, that he’d take any form of affection at this point. two years left him a little winded, though he covered it up. “ almost everyone, save louis. saw aunt hermione too, haven’t seen any other members of the parent squad. you?”

“yeah, yeah. like i could physically take anyone down. have you seen how small i am?” she asked playfully, shaking her head with a laugh. she was glad he was there. all of her family. it made things feel a little more like home. “yeah i’ve seen both of mine and neither know how to talk to their child who is the same age as them so that’s fun. uncle charlie is here too.”
