7/20/17: Buying Nothing For A Year.
I buy everything I want. Whenever I want it. No matter how long I have wanted it. I see a pair of shoes, I don’t think too much.
I just buy them.
This is how it has been going ad nauseum for years. It stops here.Â
Today I make the decision to buy nothing for myself for a year.
This means (it’s going to get hardcore, because I am all in or it doesn’t work for me):
No new or used clothes.
No new or used shoes.
No coffeehouse beverages. Specific, I know.
No electronics.
No gifts. I’ll make em’, if it means knitting something or making a card.
No accessories.
Some of this is me wanting to reign in spending, but a lot of it is wanting to reduce my waste footprint on this planet. I am disgusted by the amount of stuff I throw away weekly.
What is okay?
Groceries
Gas
Car maintenance
From what I have read for the last few years on people who have done this, it is usually more painful for the people you live with/are friends with than it is for the actual person performing the process.
The decision to do this is falling on a month where I have one birthday I have planned for. I will take care of that, but this will be the only blip. I am hoping to give a weekly run down of what I would have spent had I kept spending. And maybe how many trash bags. And also how much I was able to get our grocery bill down. Stuff like that.
I’m looking forward to wearing things out.
