heya! You've been writing Shadow Knights in MyStreet since 2022 and you completed it earlier this year 2026, I must ask, how do you not get burnt out from aphmau in general? Writers block gets the best of us but how do you not get sick of aphmau after years?? Teach me your ways please 🥹
I can't promise this will be a super helpful answer, but here's what I got.
I think part of the reason I don't get burnt out of Aphmau in general is because outside of writing the fic, I don't really normally interact with Aphmau stuff (both fandom and the actual stuff on her youtube channel) all that much. Like, I'll occasionally scroll through a tag, read the occasional one-shot, or watch a video on her channel, etc. but that's really uncommon for me. Most of my fandom interaction/entertainment is for completely unrelated stuff, so I think that makes it a bit harder for me to get super burnt out on Aphmau specifically.
I also don't actually write super often. Like, there are multiple times where I do not even touch the document for days (sometimes weeks) at a time, or periods where I would only manage a few sentences across multiple consecutive days. Most of the time I'm doing other stuff I enjoy doing, since I only really write when I get a strong urge to. Which probably also helps me with the burnout.
Also to be clear I have absolutely gone through periods of writer's block with this fic. My posting schedule just so happens to be erratic enough for it to not be super obvious to readers.

So funny story, me and my beta reader discussed this a while ago and this is what we came up with.
I just got back into Aphmau and I love your series and got a tiny bit obsessed (I may or may not have drawn the entire first chapter of SKMS as a comic)
That aside, I was wondering
1. Do you plan for them to move when tackling season 3? Ik it’s the season’s entire setup/gimmick but it’s always been weird to me that EVERYONE moved when it was presented as a step for aarmau’s relationship
2. Did you give the Shadow Knights house 64 (aka Lucinda and Cadenza’s house) and gave Lucinda house 65 (Brendan’s house) in the first fic?
You described them as next door neighbors to the new movers, which I first took to mean that they lived in 65 because Brendan was absent and Lucinda appeared later but when I looked at the interiors in the lapiz city map, I couldn’t help but notice how 64 would accommodate 5 people better. Not counting living room and kitchen, 64 has 7 rooms (an easy 2 bathroom, 5 bedroom split) in contrast to 65’s 3 rooms (plus 2 bedrooms just Lucinda seems more reasonable)
3. You said you don’t plan to add aarmau but is mcd aarmau and Irene x shad still cannon to your fic?

Firsts of all oh my gosh a comic??? Thank you so much like genuinely I am honored. Please tag me if you post it, it would genuinely make me so happy to see that. The reaction here may seem tame but I promise I freaked out a bit when I first saw the ask. Ok now onto the questions themselves
1) I do want for there to be a move and some roommate reshuffling. I'm still not 100% certain on what the living situations are going to be exactly, or even how I will justify not having the Shadow Knights all live together (yes I want to separate them a little for the sake of Fun and New Dynamics). My current idea is just make it a mixture of costs/the houses aren't big enough to accommodate the exact same living arrangements from season 1. Which would likely require me to fudge things a little and change the interior of some of the houses but oh well.
2) Uhhh... I'll be honest I fully just made up the interior of the Shadow Knights' house in the first fic. Physically, the house is intended to be located where Brendan's was in canon, but I did not know about the lapiz city map. So I ended up just completely making up what the interior looked like since I knew I wanted them to take Brendan's house (sorry Brendan) and did not really care about having it match Brendan's actual interior. So If you noticed a discrepancy that's why.
3) Yes! The primary reason I changed my mind about including Aarmau in the fic is that the storyline I want for both characters throughout my fics wouldn't really benefit from them being together romantically. mcd!Aarmau were "together" but it was more of a "they had feelings for each other, and had sex, but they never really talked about it or officially got together in anything beyond friend with benefits". And Shad and Irene were also together in a very messy and tragic way as is canon.

how do you plan on incorporating the shadow knights into season 6?
do you think like laurance or vylad would be very fond of the idea of going back to the alliance island where everything with Shad presumably went down only to find that it’s now an amusement park?
My current plan is basically that some of them will be in hiding the way the main group was at the start of Season 6, and some of them will be in the position Travis and Katelyn were in of being citizens unlucky enough to get trapped in the island. Except the ones playing the roles of regular civilians will have full knowledge of what's going on and will be in contact with the ones that are in hiding. Which Shadow Knight will be in each group I will leave a mystery for now.
As for the second part of the question, at most they will be a bit weirded out by it being so different, but will accept that everything that went down happened centuries ago, of course things changed. They may not be particularly fond of it, but they won't react super negatively either.

I'm gonna go ahead and say no on that one. None of them really feel like the type to engage in fandom spaces. So I really don't see them knowing what ao3 is. Honestly I'm not 100% confident all of them (if any) know what fanfiction is in the first place.

And my second question is: have any of them watch/read any type shadow kight media, and if so, how did they react? I just imagine they get a good laugh out of it because it is probably very factually incorrect or very over the top.

I can only really see Gene, Laurance, and Sasha trying for a college degree. But all three for pretty different reasons. Gene would do it for practicality's sake. By which I mean that he would get a college degree for the sake of getting better paying jobs, not out of boredom. He'd probably major in something like finance, something he'd view as "practical" but not a degree that would take him a long time to complete.
Sasha on the other hand, would go to college only because she was bored and wanted to try it out. I see her going for an Art major, but eventually she'd grow bored of it and drop out. That or the artist block she's been going through for years before the fic started would frustrate her and she'd drop out. Either way, I'm not sure she completes the degree.
Laurance I feel would get a degree more for the sake of it if that makes sense. He wants to get one because a) he's curious about how college life is like, and b) he genuinely wants to study and learn about topics that interest him. I view him as someone that genuinely enjoys exercising and would be interested in learning about how the body works, so I think he would pursue a kinesiology degree.
I honestly don't think Vylad or Zenix would enjoy the experience of learning in a classroom setting, even one that isn't particularly restrictive. And they would both be aware of that fact so neither of them would go after a college degree.
Question 2:
All of them have at least on accident come across media about Shadow Knights at some point. It's not something they actively keep tabs on, but they randomly get curious and look into it from time to time. Or sometimes things just become super popular and they come across it unexpectedly, or maybe one of them came across something interesting/funny and decided to show the others. The reactions range from disinterest to general amusement though. The more over the top or dramatic the piece of media is, the more likely it is they find it funny. This over-the-topness however, can come in one of two ways. First, if the piece of media goes really hard in making Shadow Knights comically evil monsters, then as long as the actions they take don't specifically press on any of the group's specific buttons (referencing the massacre that Laurance committed during that wedding in MCD for example), then they'll probably find it mildly amusing.
But what would really make them burst out in laughter? Media that portrays Shadow Knights (or at least specific Shadow Knight characters) as dark, brooding, and tortured love interests. Think Edward from Twilight. Because lets be honest, there would absolutely be Twilight-style romance novels centering Shadow Knights as tortured and brooding love interests, with absolute batshit plot and prose. That kinda stuff, depending on how far it goes, would get the Shadow Knights to start cackling at the absurdity.
Idk how common of a headcanon this is, but I always imagined that Shadowknights don't have a heartbeat, nor do they need to breathe.
The 'no heartbeat' I've seen a couple of times on ao3. Whatever magic keeps them alive after being revived still circulates the blood around their body, but there's no beat. Which means they still have blood pressure.
The 'not breathing' thing is more weird lol. They still breathe in the oxygen, but they can't die from asphyxiation. Like I imagine that if a Shadowknight ends up drowing, they don't die from the lack of oxygen, but it will hurt like hell. Idk how many people have had their lungs full of water before but it HURTS. The pain and the symptoms of asphyxiation will occur but they can't die from it.
Anyways this was brought to you by my favourite trope of Laurance casually bringing up/joking that he's dead and making everyone sad about it. I can't imagine Cadenza being very amused because she already mourned him after dissappearing for 15 years, only to hear him casually joke about how he's technically always been dead. ( ；∀；)

Has a shadow knight ever gone to the Museum and found something belonging to one of them from the past? I know it would probably never happen, but I can just imagine one of the shadow knights saying something like, "Aww, I was wondering where that was." I really liked that thing, and Zenix just going ok, then the next day, giving said object back to whoever it belonged to, it became national news that the object disappeared
And last one, sorry you don't have to answer this one, but I like angst, but you said it was possible for the shadow knights to die. How would the shadow knights react if one of them died from protecting someone, or in some other way?

Hi! So first off I am so so sorry about not answering this for over a month. I procrastinated. A lot. Anyways onto actually answering the questions.
I hadn't really thought about it before now but I'm gonna go with "no" when it comes to them getting sick (on account of them being dead). Not by normal means anyways. However if there were some sort of magic reasoning behind the "sickness" then they would actually be able to get sick. Though at that point it'd be something closer to them being cursed in a way that simulates being sick and not actually being sick.
So funny thing about the museum scenario. This did kinda happen and the specifics will be revealed eventually. I wont give too many details for spoiler reasons but I will give away two things 1) It was not Zenix who stole something from the museum (though you are correct in assuming so because under most circumstances it would be him) and 2) the stolen object didn't technically belong to the Shadow Knight who stole it.
And lastly, the death question. I will be so honest, part of the reason this took so long to answer is because I struggled to think of a satisfying answer to this question. But in the interest of actually answering I'm gonna give a more general idea for each character instead of going into specifics.
Laurance: Genuinely might react the healthiest out of all of them? Like, yes he will grieve and might end up lashing out at people in the midst of said grief, but I also feel like he'd be the first to get somewhere generally ok. He's already processed the death of a lot of loved ones (to be fair all the Shadow Knights have) and has managed to accept those deaths in a mostly healthy manner (MCD!Garroth is an exception due to the messy circusmtances surrounding his death specifically). Though this might just be a testament to how bad the others would be at coping.
Zenix: He is losing his fucking shit. Shadow Knights pretty much have to be specifically killed to actually die so whoever killed the dead Shadow Knight in this scenario is getting maimed. It'll be bloody no matter who it is but if Laurance or Vylad ended up dying? Yeah no it's a fucking massacre, Zenix would fucking lose it in a way that makes the werewolf wedding massacre seem tame. Zenix may not get close to people easily but when he is close to someone they become incredibly important to him in such a way that makes him react really badly to them being genuinely hurt. And all the Shadow Knight fall in that category for him.
Vylad: Repressing so much shit. Like oh my fucking god they are repressing a vast majority of their grief. They won't pretend to be 100% fine but they are only letting themselves express and acknowledge a fraction of the grief they would actually be feeling. Whether or not they would ever actually fully acknowledge the extent of their grief depends entirely on whether the other surviving Shadow Knights is able to drag it out of them. If all the other Shadow Knights died however? That shit is staying locked down until they eventually fucking snap from it. That or the heat death of the universe. Whichever happens first.
Gene: Weird mixture of Zenix and Vylad. Like Vylad, he is repressing and not acknowledging that vast majority of the grief the death of the other Shadow Knights would make him feel. Instead, if available for him, he is focusing entirely on some sort of incredibly unethical revenge scheme. Like, genuinely there is a possibility he backslides back into behaving the way he did in MCD. His behavior wouldn't immediately register as rage, it'd feel extremely cold and calculating, even if he's seething/grieving the whole time.
Sasha: Has the most... messy reaction to the deaths. I'm not sure how much I want to get into it here, but out of all the Shadow Knights, Sasha is the one to resent their immortality the most out of all of them. So seeing one of them die would cause her to experience some thoughts and feelings that would make her extremely uncomfortable to acknowledge and process.

The title of the sequel isn't quite set in stone yet, but the current plan is something along the lines of "Shadow Knights in Paradise". Maybe a slightly weird sounding title but I do want to follow the same idea behind the title of the first fic which was just a very literal description of the premise of "What if the Shadow Knights were in MyStreet"
Also I plan to cover everything up until season 6. So this whole thing is going to take a while to complete at the pace I normally write. I probably won't cover the new seasons when they come out, since the climax of season 6 (and thus the finale of the fic series) is actually something I have had planned out for a decent bit now.
