the artistic imbalances

And that meant Eli was a keeper. Zoe already had some stupid, mad hope that tonight wouldnât be the first and last time she ever saw Eli. She grinned brightly at the bartender, who, with her eyes, glanced at Eli as if silently questioning, but then gave her a look that said âWay to go!â and Zoe smiled brightly because yes, she totally thought Eli was out of her league. Way to go was right. She returned her gaze to the gorgeous brunette, positively beaming. âOh youâre gonna love it. Yeah, pretty sure it was made up in Puerto Rico or something.â Zoe said thoughtfullyâshe was actually pretty good with that type of information. The random type, that is. âWhat type of exotic places do you like? Like, where would you love to visit?â She asked, genuinely interested and not just because she was hoping to at least get Eliâs number sometime later. Another laugh bubbled out of herânow that was a real compliment; tampon carrying angel. âYou bet I am. Iâll always look after you in your times of need.â She joked, and almost shouted at Eli for paying but then remembered that Eli said sheâd buy her a drink. Zoe liked being generous, too, okay? Even if she couldnât afford to be too generous. âOh please, darling, brown eyes arenât boring or anything. Especially yours?! Theyâre big and bright and they have this gorgeous little sparkle I think I am fucking obsessed with them.â She said, nodding a little and smiling as she met Eliâs eyes. âOh, theyâre so pretty.â Her eyes lit up excitedly, happy that Eli liked the drink. It was such a good drink to start anyone off on if they didnât really know what to get. âOh Iâm glad you like it! Yeah thatâs exactly what it feels like. Wow I want to go to Spainâthatâd be pretty neat, wouldnât it?â She asked before laughing. Oh, sheâd drunken enough but here she was, drinking some more and being such a giggly mess that she was surprised she could form coherent sentences at all. Her eyes widened, not at all having had expected such an answer. âOh whaaat?â And she glanced down at Eliâs curvy legs. Oh yeah. Sheâs a runner. âThatâs fucking amazing, no way. Thatâs sick, whoaâŠâ her eyebrows quirked sadly. âRoad to recovery? Why, what happened? i mean at least youâve still got⊠something in the sporty realm you can do but..â she sighed, giving Eli a sympathetic smile before giggling again. âOh you make me blush, I hate it.â It was true. She scrunched her nose at Eli and looked up thoughtfully. âErm⊠I like art. I like⊠I draw and paint a lot⊠and⊠sometimes my canvases differ.â Which was an understatement, seeing as she did graffiti art. âCurrently training to be a tattoo artistâI mean. Apprenticing. And⊠like Iâm the receptionist at said shop and thatâs where my sad excuse for a paycheck comes from. Nothing as exciting as you, holy fuckâoh my god Iâm probably talking to a celebrity and donât even know it.â Zoe just wanted to talk about Eli some more, okay? âSo what type of poetry do you like to read and write?âÂ
âwell i rather like making you blush.â she was a cheeky bugger after all, smiling so much that her cheeks were slowly beginning to hurt. âiâd really like to go to peru again, definitely egypt as well. actually yeah, downright, egyptâs my favourite place in the whole wide world. the history there is ridiculous and amazing.â she took a few more sips of her drink, and since she didnât drink all that much, she was already hazy. she held out her hand for zoe, completely out of character for her but, âdance with me, beautiful.â she didnât think she could handle any more of this wonderful girl but in the same sense, she never wanted to stop talking to her. and yet she was so eager to ask questions about eli! and all eli wanted to do was talk about zoe! âshhhh, iâm not a celebrity! no where near. just... a girl in a bar. youâre far more exciting. will you show me your work some day? oh! i donât know if itâs abruptly obvious already but iâm so not leaving your side tonight without grabbing your number, okay? okay. i write whatever comes to mind, itâs silly but itâs pretty much word vomit... on paper and then i sort through it and it makes sense. very intriguing vomit though, you know when the artist says the curtains are blue and they mean their life sucks and they want to die? yeah, stuff like that. reading between the lines? i donât know, i canât think, iâm dizzy! talk about you, please. i want to know everything, whatâs your favourite colour? how old are you? if you had twenty four hours to live, what would you do?â
