Watch the new fan-made short film titled MOCKINGJAY BURN directed by Leo Kei Angelos and starring Kristen Brancaccio as Katniss Everdeen. 

This is an incredibly well made short film with beautiful performances from the cast. It’s based on the District 8 bombings in the novel MOCKINGJAY, as well as a few other surprise scenes.

i love u guys and i get that it's just meant to be an April's fools joke, but i also understand why people got upset and see it as cruel. if the link led to a rick roll, more people would have just laugh it off than get angry. I saw the separate post you made but perhaps actually stating at the bottom of the linked article on your site that it's not real?

Yeah, we were planning to reveal it as a hoax after midday in Australia (when traditionally it is no longer considered April Fools).

Today is one of our favorite days of the year, and it’s become a great tradition of our website to take part in the festivities and craziness that is this day. While it’s a given there will be people upset over the “reveal”, I’m actually surprised that there are people who actually call into question the integrity of our news reporting and sending us “deactivation” threats and even death threats.

Many, many sites and companies take part in April Fools, including major companies and businesses such as Google and Samsung, as well as other fellow Hunger Games fansites. It’s something that is considered FUN and a way to put a little humor and frenzy in what has been a pretty quiet few months for the fandom. 

Basically, I just wanted to make this post to remind fans to: take a deep breath, put things into perspective and don’t take anything too seriously! We’re sorry for playing with your emotions and obviously, no harm was intended, we’re doing what we and many others have been doing for many years on this very day every year. This isn’t going to affect the way we report news in the future, nor will we discontinue our site in anyway or kill ourselves. But just receiving the messages that we did from some of our readers was really discouraging - no harm was intended.

Just enjoy the day for what it is, and know that once it hits April the 1st in many other countries, you’re in for a lot more from other people and sites than just fake global tour dates.

P.S - We love you guys, I’m always defending the fandom 100%. That’s why I’m making this post to reaffirm what the intent of the post was, and on what we think of some of the reaction has been. Some of it has been pretty positive, some laugh it off, while others have taken a questionable dark turn. Just remember that behind the personas on our site, that there are real people, real humans running it and to be mindful of things that you could say that might trigger people.
