Here it is! The Little Mermaid AU of my characters!! I hope it's not too late for Mermay. The story goes like this:

Shinta is a merman who has fallen in love with a princess from the mainland. Although at first he's happy just seeing her from afar on the beach, one day she stops coming. That's how Shinta decides to make a deal with the Sea Witch to get legs and go find her. On his journey to the surface, Shinta ends up rescuing a wild man named Airam who claims to be a prince and, in gratitude, says he'll help him. Shinta's life on land searching for his lost love alongside Airam is wonderful until something terrible happens: Airam introduces him to his fiancée, Princess Nahir, the very princess Shinta fell in love with!

And now, as a creature who loves too much something that was never meant to be, perhaps it's too late to go home...

This is basically a story about how one always ends up sacrificing a part of oneself to be able to love someone else. Oh, no. How terrible love is, little merman!!

I'm interested in sharing some worldbuilding details from this story, but honestly, I don't know how. Shinta and Airam speak a common language: Calantés. But Airam's native language is Durvans (which isn't actually English; this is just a representation). So sometimes moments like this happen!

Shinta shivered as the warmth from the candle met his cold nose. That was all his flustered mind could manage with Airam’s face so close to his.

“What did you wish for?”

Airam’s smile widened behind his finger as he whispered to Shinta. In a way that would have seemed mischievous to anyone, but was genuinely innocent. The deep blush on his face could have been from the freezing weather or from excitement.

“It’s a secret.”»

A doodle from last year. Things happened this year and I couldn't do much. The excuse that Airam made the candle holder and that's why it looks so strange still holds true.
