My favorite lesson I’ve learned through my weight loss journey is that it’s okay to adore myself even though I don’t look like those perfect instagram models. In fact, most days I give myself a food baby, and I can look at my tummy and smile knowing that I am well-fed, happy, healthy, and living a life that I am incredibly lucky to have. Verily, I tell you, the amount of self love I’ve discovered through this journey has been well worth the pain of it all.

Baby steps.
I am working on completing my degree with my final class from the community college in my town. In the fall, I will receive my diploma and officially give myself permission to stop doing classes until I am ready to leave this town and move on to the next big thing. I’m ready for a well-deserved break after five long years of working 2+ jobs at one time while also doing classes. During this “rest” period, I will pay off my car and get my body to its fittest it’s ever been, because I’m going to need it for the next part.

Let’s just compare these photos. The first one was taken on December 28, 2018, and the second one was taken on March 8, 2019. I just want to celebrate for a moment. This was done with nothing but hard work and healthy eating. No dietary supplements, no fancy detox drinks, none of that stuff. This was done the hard way, the way it takes in order to make it stick. Obviously I’m nowhere near where I would like to be, but every day gets me a little bit closer. I am excited to see where I will be in the next few months!

Leg burner hike over the Columbia Gorge
It’s been a while since my last post, so let me catch you up to speed. Over the summer, I would go running here and there on the hiking trails on the mountain, but that was the extent of my working out. So my 2018 goals were basically left unavhieved. It wasn’t until mid-November when I decided that, since I do want this for myself, a gym membership is necessary. So I found one that isn’t too expensive. It was super rough in the beginning, I’d really damaged my lungs during the time that I smoked. I eventually got on singulair and also got an inhaler, which both helped my lungs understand that we’re in this thing together now, and my days of mistreating them are over. Now here we are, it’s February, and every day I am meeting new goals. This was the second week in a row where I ran three miles straight for five days of the week, so I ran a total of thirty miles in the past two weeks. I’ve also been doing weight training stuff, so Monday/Friday is bottom stuff and Tuesday/Thursday is top stuff, and all days are core because I learned that our core muscles are different from the rest and can, in fact, be worked out every day. A year ago? I never would’ve imagined that I could be doing this well. It certainly helped when I got rid of some dead weight in the form of a few toxic friends and my now ex boyfriend. Once I freed myself from that lifestyle, I was left with nothing but open time and motivation. And now here we are, nearly three months after I got my membership, and I’m already gonna need new workout pants within the next few weeks because we don’t need me to lose my pants at the gym! All in all, I am proud of my progress and eager to see what comes next. Hopefully soon, I can post some progress photos!!(: Until next time!
