New patch in my store! Go check it out!
Not Starkid related, but my good friend is selling patches they’ve made online. All of the patches are handmade and under $5.00. Go check them out if you’re interested!
tbh the reason no one talks about the sexism in Starkid is that the fandom attacks us for even mentioning it. I've almost entirely left the fandom because of the way I've been treated when I bring it up, and I've talked to a lot of people who feel the same way.
I know right?? It’s frustrating because it should be the complete opposite.

Good discussion of inter-fandom issues and definitely worth a read.
Starkid Summer Season Anyone?
Since I am terrible at planning things, I’ve wound up with 2 extra passes for the Starkid Summer Season for this Saturday (August 9th) at Stage 773. Ani at 2pm, Trail to Oregon at 7:30, and Tin Can Bros at 10:30. While I’d like to get some of my money back, I’m more concerned about butts in seats - so best price I guess? If you’re interested, let me know! If you’re not, but know someone who might be, pass it along! If you need more detail, shoot me a message and I can hopefully provide some.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME PLEASE HELP ME.
Anyone looking for tickets for Saturday?
Okay but why aren’t we talking about the fact that after this summer Team Starkid will have made 9 musicals in which the main character is male but exactly 0 in which the main character is female because I’d like for us to be talking about that.
SUMMER SEASON NEWS!
We are so excited to announce that Team StarKid will perform a special one-time-only reading of “Starship: Requiem,” the romantic sci-fi comedy sequel to their 2011 space odyssey “Starship.” The story follows the adventures of Mega-Girl the robot and her half-witted Starship Ranger husband.
The newlyweds are sucked into a black hole of trouble when they go to visit Mega-Girl’s human-hating family, including her overbearing mother-unit, her jealous sister-unit and the return of her hunky ex-boyfriend-unit.
As an added bonus for LeakyCon attendees, Team StarKid will celebrate their five-year anniversary at a retrospective panel where they will answer questions, share stories and read some of the deleted scenes from their “Very Potter Musical” series. Read more…
We’re going to LeakyCon again this year! A reading of Starship: Requiem as well as some deleted bits from the AVPM series!
While on the subject of talking to Starkid about things that are bothersome, I'm going to be honest, their attitude towards plus women is a little iffy. I get typecasting, but all the leading ladies are cute and thin and the few plus ladies they have are comic-relief side-ladies. They even made Ursula a thinner woman in a fatsuit. And even the suit was too thin for my taste, like Ursula is so sensual with her giant octopus body, leave her big. Idk, that's just another thing I noticed.
That's something that had never actually occurred to me, but you make a good point. Of course, the acting industry in general has issues that way as well.
Hi! I noticed you said Aladdin and Jafar are Desi, and I wanted to point out that if we're talking about the Disney version, the narrator mentioned that Agrabah is near the Jordan, and if we're talking the original story it's sourced to the general Middle East but Aladdin is explicitly described as being Chinese and it takes place in China. I'm not super knowledgeable on Desi people so correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding was that it's more India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, etc.
I think you're right. Thanks for pointing out the mistake!Â
Robert has also said that it was after he came back to Australia that he was asked to audition, so they gave him some or all of the script and he sent them videos of himself singing Santa Fe from Newsies, and of him performing parts of the script
Brian Holden said in one of the live streams that he invited Robert to audition because he won like 2 or 3 categories in the AVPSY contest, and Brian figured that because he'd seen how talented he was in more than just one thing, he'd see if Rob was interested in auditioning. Evidently he was, and he impressed them enough to be given a part.
Hey, I wanted to know your opinion on Robert Manion? I like him, and think he's amazing, but I think there's something going on where they asked him to come join Twisted and we've never heard anything about the other contest winners since.
I don’t really know enough about Robert Manion to have an opinion. I don’t know why he was asked to join and not the other contest winners, but my guess would be that it had to do with living near enough to the other StarKids and wanting to act, which might not have been true of the other contest winners. However, I have no idea whether or not this is true. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful!
I’m friends with one of the other winners. She told me that he stayed longer at some point and auditioned for them. They obviously liked him and thought he would be a good addition. He got my friend a ticket and she flew out to watch it.
Cool, thanks for letting me know! other of my followers have pointed out that Robert Manion is from Australia, so my proximity guess was wrong.

Just wondering what did you put in your letter to starkid?
I wrote them two letters. The first can be found here, and was written last spring. The second one was a follow-up letter after they mentioned my first one in an interview. There were places that I felt they’d missed the point, so I wrote another letter, which can be found here.Â
It’s possible that the links aren’t working— my internet is going screwy right now— so let me know if they don’t lead anywhere and I’ll try to fix it. If you don’t want to read the whole letters, the long and short of it is that I wrote to tell them that I wished they had more female characters and that they developed them as characters better so they’d be more three dimensional.
