Another morning walk in the backstreets of Hochelaga. Where will this path lead us today?
Morning walk near Marche Maisonneuve in Hochelaga, Montreal. In a neighborhood that has a rather bad reputation, it's a pleasure to see such outdoor exposition, even during winter time. People may recognize the Old market in the background, and even further, the Olympic park.
Montreal's winter are reknown to be cold, and they are. But it's not the only thing they are, if you prepare yourself for it, you can still enjoy it, walk the city and do all kinds of activities. Some of us may want to take an imaginary train that'd bring them somewhere warm, and that's good too!
The Chauvet cave in southern France was discovered rather recently in 1994, and contains the oldest known cave paintings in the world (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chauvet_Cave).
It was really a pleasure to visit this place with family (or rather, its replica as they are trying to protect the real site), and what a good surprise to be greeted by some rays of light when getting out of the cave.
If you have the opportunity to go to this region, I recommend it: http://www.cavernedupontdarc.fr/

New toy !
Subway
For one of my classes, I did a study in the subway, looking for oddities.
Photos on each end show unusable exits, the two photos around the central one show indifference, and finally the central one shows the opposition of a working and a non-working world.
Don't judge a book by its cover.
Yume is my loyal companion, and the nicest doggie.
She was kind enough today to let me take pictures of her while I was throwing some treats. What a face she makes :D
Finally some smoke I enjoyed !
Montreal's biosphere at sunset
Another sunrise, this time not turning my back to the sun.
I was surprised to see how many people came up the Mt-Royal for the sunrise while it's still freezing outside.
But I have to admit the view is really worth it too.
At this time of the year, we can still see the ice over the St-Lawrence river. It's both beautiful and terrible (I mean, it's freezing cold out there :) ).
Winter time in Canada is indeed beautiful, but it is also sometimes REALLY cold. As far as my very small experience goes, it doesn't matter how many layers you have when it's -35C, you're cold.
That being said, it's on trips like this one at Parc Omega that I remember what drew me to Canada: landscape, nature, space.
At this point of my adventure, I have millions of places I want to visit here, and hopefully create memories with my camera.
Until the next chapter...
Another picture of parc Omega. The beauty of the scenery only will make me come back over and over again during different seasons, different weather!
Parc Omega (between Montreal and Ottawa) is a wonderful place to see wild animals. The scenery by itself is also worth it, and who knows, you might get to see a wolf or a bear coming out of those woods !
Walking around the distillery district at sundown.
I have yet to discover many things about Toronto, but this place is definitely one of my favorite. Very good feeling walking in those street, many breweries to enjoy, and even a sake brewery (Izumi - http://ontariosake.com/) that I recommend.
Wandering the streets of Est-Montreal during winter sometime brings nice surprises to my eyes.
The always controversial Olympic stadium from the '76 games has many flaws, but it also brings an interesting subject for cityscapes.
