the first time i cried when watching Joker was when the Murray show came on and Arthur started fantasizing about being on the show, having a good time, being recognized by his idol Murray, being applauded by the crowd for how much of a good person he is and seeing Murray as a father figure and all that

and i felt a little embarrassed because i don’t think anyone else in the theatre cried at that

like Arthur just wants love and support and validation and for someone/people to be proud of him…
