Don't know if anyone cares but I met my favourite writer Andrey Kurkov yesterday and I'm the happiest fangirl. Feels like that's something one posts on the fangirl hellsite, at least it used to be in the good old days.

He was the sweetest, most charming guy and I'm a little bit in love.

He signed the new book "for [apicturewithasmile]. Have fun reading! Greetings from Kyiv!" then I told him that I'm looking forward to reading it, that he's my favourite writer and I'm a bit nervous to meet him - then he laughed, grabbed my hand and held it while saying thank you.

As I was getting my stuff from my seat (first row obviously) this lady who had overheard what I said asked me if I did not want to have a picture with him. I did but was too shy to ask first because nobody else did. But bless the nice lady for pushing me to ask because of course he said yes and now I have a photo with the man 🤩

My washing machine broke the same day that Huub was brought to the hospital and it took me (and my dad) two and a half months to finally repair it.

I will get so much fucking laundry done this week and I will enjoy every bit of it.

#about me #huub #normally laundry isn't my fav chore #but it'll be so sweet now #no longer do I need to bring my laundry to the other side of town to wash at Huub's place #and then wait for it to dry and bring it all the way back to my place #as if I wasn't under enough stress already #shout out to my dad for helping me with it #I would've been able to change the faulty pump myself #if I didn't lack the muscle mass to move the washing machine even an inch #let alone flip it on its back to be able to get to the pump

People to this day are saying that Ukraine is getting all the attention because we are white, but what I've been seeing for the last year at least, and few last months especially, is willful exclusion of Ukraine from any kind of discussions surrounding wars, injustice and imperialism etc.

So... I've accidentally not been on Tumblr for a million years. What did I miss? Anyone still around? Hello... mutuals???

I guess the shortest way to summarise the last two months of my life would be to say that I almost became a widow and instead I'm now engaged.

The longer version is that Huub had severe bacterial meningitis and would have died if I hadn't found him in time and called the ambulance. Multiple doctors and nurses said they never saw someone recover from bacterial meningitis + sepsis this aggressive and far advanced without lasting brain damage but... He's fine. I mean he is still very weak, lost 15kg and suffers from severe headaches and his hearing got bad, but... No brain damage, he's alive, so I guess, that's lucky compared to how bad things could've been.

He was in the hospital and neurology rehab for 7 weeks during which his asshole children made my life even more like hell than it already was. Things are slowly calming down now that he's back home and we're both trying to have a normal-ish life again.

Oh and we're going to get married next year. As soon as German bureaucracy allows it.
