Hi! This blog will just reply to. Stuff. Abou trans-misogyny.
I will try my best to be helpful and active.
I was once friends with this gay guy in highschool, and then we stopped talking after graduation. After graduation, I also found out I'm a woman. That was three years ago, and I'm now over one year on E.
When I was at a cafe nearby with a friend, I ran into him again.
There was this weird feeling of dread in me when I spotted him, but against my instincts I went and said hello to him after getting our drinks. Immediately after telling him who I am, his eyes went wide and he said, "Oh, you're a femboy now? "I told him no, that I'm a woman.
He made a weird face, and that feeling of dread solidified. "You're not at woman yet, definitely femboy. I'd still hit that."
I was so disgusted and flabbergasted, and I looked towards my friend to see if she saw. She did. Just didn't say or do anything.
I quickly said bye to him, and left the cafe with my friend.
Outside, I asked her why the hell she didn't do anything (like I've done for her several times before), and she told me she thought it was cute, and she's not homophobic.
...
It's been a day, I've ranted so much about this (not just here), but I still don't fucking know how to react that isn't just a nuclear explosion in her face.
She's never said anything disgusting like that before, but that was awful. I don't know what to do. I don't know if this is dramatic but I don't want to be her friend anymore honestly, friends with somebody who's priorities are that fucked up. But I don't know. what to do.
Not even my other trans friends have any real advice, except to calmly explain why what she did is wrong. But girl I feel like she should already know! She watched a guy degender and sexually harass me, and did nothing! Except call it cute! I don't care how much fucking yaoi this woman consumes, she's a grown ass adult with a working brain!
This is trans-misogyny and everytime a trans woman shares a story about something like this, a support system and someone they thought they could trust being completely unphased by and even perpetuating their abuse, it breaks my heart. This is too common.
Additionally, it's disgusting people genuinely think a "femboy" is such a better thing than a woman. They truly just refuse to see us as people.
Transgynephobia is people putting the comfort of cis women over the safety of trans women at all times.
God, don't you dare be in the girl's hotel rooms because that one girl doesn't like you being there minding your own business and sleeping; stay in the boy's room where they will all assault you, and we won't do anything about it!
Literally what happened to the trans girl in my grade. I wasn't publicly out as a trans man and used that to try to protest against it by saying that I wouldn't go if she wasn't allowed to sleep with us. Sadly it didn't work even though the school tried to make a big deal of me refusing and not going. She ended up being harassed by the boys anyway :((
This is trans-misogyny, we are expected to be abused and be silent about it. Because we are women enough to be abused, but not actually women in the eyes of the patriarchy so we are not afforded any of the social protections womanhood typically offers. The perfect abuse object.
Thank you for at least attempting to help her, even one voice can make the world of a change. At least she knew someone cared...
Here in Greece, a very young woman has died of a heart attack caused by drug use as a result of neglect. Three people have been arrested because they were present in the hotel room. Two of them are cis men, one of them a well-known athlete. The third suspect is a transgender woman who was a friend of the victim and seems to be the one who actually called the ambulance. But you wouldn't know that she was a woman if you were to listen to the news outlets. Everywhere you look, she's being called a "23-year-old man". A couple of sources briefly mention that she "had a double life" and that she "dresses up in women's clothes to have sex with men in order to survive" and use her real name in quotation marks as if it is a drag persona or something. I also saw a few publications that wanted to acknowledge what they consider her true gender/sex and the fact that she's "deviant", so they ended up characterising her as a "trans/transexual man". I really thought that she was ftm for a brief window of time, because most of these sources called her that without elaborating further. In general though, you had to deliberately look out to find articles mentioning such "details". The way she was almost universally simply called a man makes my skin crawl, especially as a trans person myself.
The only reason I now know the truth is thanks to one singular transfemme influencer who has ties to the community.
And the thing is, this tragedy has become extremely controversial because of whorephobia. The victim is being blamed for her death and criticised for her self-expression and life choices, even though she was merely 19. So a lot of "feminists" online have come out in her defence, but everyone keeps talking about the "3 men". It has almost turned into a boys vs girls argument. "Not all men, but always men" is being spammed(in English) in a lot of comment sections.
The girl obviously didn't deserve to die, but all I can think now is that her defenders wouldn't express the same attitude if the trans woman was the victim in the situation. And Olivia is definitely going to (male) prison, because she linked Myrto with the man that provided her with what is assumed to have been cocaïne(they didn't find anything at the scene). And the one person being openly and specifically transphobic towards Olivia, a supposed friend of Myrto, is being praised online.
(It also sucks to think about how none of this would have happened if drug use and sex work were not criminalised)
This is trans-misogyny.

Topic= "trans woman are just as racist as white men" is still trans-misogyny

[Transcript: So I saw this video from @reellauraloomer, she was criticising the racist ways in which some white trans women including Sabre act, and you know, good video, I’m all for criticising the racism of white trans women. As I like to say, white trans women are about exactly as racist as any other group of white people, which is to say, quite racist, and criticism of that is good and well warranted. However, there is a particular turn of phase that Laura uses in the video that is quite transmisogynistic. And to engage in transmisogyny in a criticism of racism is unnecessary and counterproductive, reinforces transmisogyny, and damages the validity of the criticism. The thing that Laura says is “a lot of white trans people still behave and act like white men”. Now, Laura does say “white trans people” but I’m gonna talk about trans women. The person on screen is Sabre, a trans woman. I don’t know if Laura had specifically trans women in mind, maybe she does have trans people in general. But let’s think about trans women. The idea that white trans women specifically act like white trans men, or sorry, like white men, that is a transmisogynistic trope. That is playing on the idea of male socialisation. Male socialisation is a transmisogynistic idea that trans women carry some sort of male energy with them through their transition in a way that makes them uniquely dangerous or predatory or something like that. And that’s not true, I debunk it at length in my upcoming book. I’ve made videos about it in the past. It is an incorrect theory that is wielded as a rhetorical cudgel to prevent trans women from standing up to themselves. For Laura to say that a lot of white trans people act like white men is to engage in a form of this male socialisation rhetoric. This is a transmisogynistic trope. It’s also not necessary to imply that these white women’s racism makes them male in some way. Because white women are pretty fuckin’ racist. There’s a lot of great Black feminist scholarship on white women’s racism. White women as a group have a little bit less institutional power to uphold racism than do white men. But white women still have a lot of societal power to uphold racism. And they use that power to uphold racism. So these white trans women’s behaviour is not male in any way, it’s just white. It is their whiteness that makes them oblivious to racial issues and is what is worth criticising. There’s nothing distinctly male about that racism. To suggest that it is male in some way is to engage in transmisogyny. This is hopefully a productive critique. I appreciate the work that Laura does, criticising white trans women’s racism. But I think it should be done thoughtfully. Criticising trans women is, you know, can be difficult because it’s easy to lean into transmisogynistic tropes. And that is something that should be avoided at all costs. You don’t have to get transmisogynistic in order to criticise the things that trans women do.]

transgynephobia really was just a poor-mans trans-misogyny borne from a dreadful misunderstanding of the latter term.
still use it if you think trans-misogyny is not it's own bigotry used against transfeminized people, and if you want to go the more inter/transandro/etc side of tumblr belief pattern but it's just contradictory to use to me, since it goes against a lot of transfeminist literature's understanding of what trans-misogyny is. i'm ashamed to have made it at all.

so I have a headcanon for a character who I interrupt to be a repressed trans woman even if she isn’t one in the show. She’s paired with a woman in a heterosexual relationship in canon “to prove her masculinity” that I nor my friends care for. (We don’t like it) On a discord server, people were joking about the canon women killing their love interests so they can be together. I asked them to respect my headcanon and instead of doing that, one person used the correct pronouns and blatantly went on and on about how if I wanted to headcanon a character as a trans girl, she would have to be killed off post her operation so the two cis women could be happy. (This person specified the operating table so she wouldn’t even get to live a full day as a woman). I asked them to stop given the characters in canon transmisogny they face, and they only followed it up with “nobody’s transitioning because (cis woman character) killed her. Maybe in hell..she’ll be seen as a woman 😝”). And then “men don’t deserve to live”. “I was the rope/I was the knife”
I know the answer to this and I’m honestly really confused. I don’t know what to do with this server. I don’t even know if I go back. I’ve asked my headcanon to be respected since the character literally has instances of transmisogynistic harm done to her but all I’ve gotten is “it’s not that serious”. I need to know how to proceed with this action because this person is the type to start an argument about anything.
this is disgusting and explicit transphobia
they are sharing fantasies about killing trans women and torturing them so the ""real"" women can be happy. its an oppressors power fantasy about torturing and belittling a vulnerable minority. genuinely such disgusting ass behavior & the fact they felt comfortable enough to say this is very telling.
as a trans woman i wouldnt feel comfortable around anyone who said this at ALL.
So bc this was so ghoulish and gross I wanna add some levity and talk about the girl!! I was the ask who sent this and I want to let everyone know this was abt this character. look me in the eyes and tell me she would be better off as woman. She’s so pretty!
she even has the transfem flag!
You are assisting a hate campaign that has left many trans women dead and I hope you feel bad about that.
I have only reblogged posts about transfem issues & posted about them. I've been the victim of several transmisogynistic hate campaigns myself.
Either show some proof or shut the fuck up, very sick of people thinking they can levey any false accusations against other queers on anon and it be okay.
I want a thing where we all read the same transfeminist literature and discuss it at the same time like we did with dracula a while back.
Who. Who wants to raise their hands.
