UERMMMC selects their students based on three things, their GWA, their NMAT grade and an interview given. I don’t know yet the weights od each but I will edit this once I knew.
Based on the people I saw who got slots, these are the SAFE SPOTS that I’ve concluded for the applicants
a GWA of 2.0 or better
NMAT grade of 85 or higher
a somewhat lengthy interview from 20-45 mins. *although, don’t try to senselessly lengthen the interview, if you can express yourself clearly in 20 mins, then go!*

HOW TO APPLY
Go to UERM Registrar
There is a classroom for the application. It is located at the first classroom you’ll encounter when you go inside the building. There will be a line, if not, you can go directly to the person in charge of checking if you have all your requirements.
You will be told to go up to the cashier. It’s in the second floor. The stairs is near the entrance of the building.
After paying, go back to the application classroom and show your receipt. They will ask you to identify your application forms and requirements.
They’ll tell you that they will text/call/e-mail you in January on when you will be interviewed.
The INTERVIEW
Here are what I have read from the past interviewees
It is said that all applicants will be interviewed. You just got to have lots of patience. Some applicants were interviewed even after the first list was already out, and that was mid March. Call them and follow up once in a while. It is better if you’ll be interviewed before the 1st list comes out.
There will be guidelines given to you before the interview
Most of it would be about your personal life, how you lived? Personal background? Who were the people you had when you were growing? Your preparation for med school, study habits, why you wanted to become a doctor, who you look up to. Those kinds. So, better just be yourself.
You will be asked in English. It is not necessarily required to answer in English but I think it is polite enough to answer back in the same language. Some people have used Filipino to express themselves. If you’re using Filipino, just make sure you’re not gonna use Taglish. If you’re answering in Filipino, speak Filipino all the way.
There will be an essay on current issues in medicine, but they are easy, some issues aren’t even med related *What do you think about the pope? The advantages and disadvantages of being a probinsyana in med school. The like*
UERM, as what I’ve read from numerous blog sites and posts, has given off the friendliest aura from all the med school interviews most applicants had. So, really, don’t stress yourself on the interview. :)
Attire is said to be semi formal. I am thinking that this is the same as corporate attire. I think it would be safe not to wear jeans, shorts, sleeveless, backless and t-shirts. Black is the safest color for pants/skirts. Make sure you look modest. :)
So, after the interview, what now?
We wait. We wait for the releasing of the first list which is most likely given on the 1st or second week of March. Last year, the 1st list contained 690+ names, too much for the slot of 400 given in a school year, yet they are to release more lists in the future. This is because, from these 690+ students, not everyone would apply. Some would apply to UP, UST, FEU, ASMPH, SLCM etc.Usually, from this list, not all 400 slots are filled in, so people from the 2nd, 3rd or fourth list can also enroll. If your name belongs to the 1st list, you have the chance of paying the reservation fee to reserve a slot in UERM. Reservation of a slot does not mean you have already enrolled it just means that if you were to enrol, there will be a reserved slot for you already.
TUITION FEE & RESERVATION FEE
I am not really sure about this but I think it’s in the 120k-130k range. There is a reservation fee *30,000* that you have to pay to reserve a slot. This is non refundable, so if you don’t wanna lose money, make sure you are 101% sure about enrolling in this school before paying the reservation fee. In the likely event that you will be enrolling, the reservation fee will be deducted from your tuition fee if you decided to enroll there.
There is also an installment option for this. You can pay 40k in the enrollment period and about 20k per month until the semester end.
PS Next post will be about books, tips on surviving, classes, and other things after enrolling.
