What If - Severus Snape ll (son) x Fem oc
POV: Story created in an alternate universe about Snape having a son, who falls deeply in love with Y.N. Crouch, the minister's daughter. However, the war is about to begin.
NOTE: This story is created from my imagination, using the Harry Potter films as a continuity reference. Some scenes have been changed, and others are entirely invented.
Themes: Love, Fluff, Angst, almost Smut.
Warnings: Violence, mention of death, abandonment issues, childhood trauma, family betrayals, abuse of authority, possibly others (let me know).
Let's just imagine what would have happened if our beloved and feared Professor Snape had been fortunate enough to find a love (not entirely fulfilling or honest) that helped him cope with his younger years and from which a beautiful treasure was born. However, his love and devotion to Lily didn't make him settle for that, and like his father, he hurt his little boy by abandoning his wife.
Years later, shortly before Severus ll entered Hogwarts, Snape returned to establish a bond with him. However, little Sev felt his heart filled with fear and resentment. How could the man he supposed would protect him for life abandon him?
That's why, when Sev entered Hogwarts, he did everything possible to stay away from his father, even trying to change houses but it wasn't possible. The Sorting Hat hadn't made a mistake in sending the Snape successor to Slytherin just by chance.
Two years later, little Harry was admitted and Sev saw how his father, filled with hatred and resentment for what James had done to him throughout his kid, mistreated that defenseless boy. For this reason, he took care of him and was a kind of older brother to him.
Despite this, Sev was (unintentionally) the carbon copy of his father: lonely, fearful, and above all, an exemplary student in all his subjects. Not to mention his physique: his thin body, pale skin, that jet-black hair that fell over his shoulders and covered almost his entire face when he always looked down at the floor, his always dark clothes, and sharp features that framed his expressionless but very attractive face.
Despite this, Sev had a great deal of humanity, solidarity, and empathy for those who were weak and rejected, especially while possessing a pure and faithful heart like his father's.
Unlike Snape, Sev had been very lucky since entering wizarding school, a silent luck he liked to keep all to himself.
When he fell in love with Y/N āāCrouch, a pureblood witch, daughter of an important Minister of Magic and the most popular girl in Slytherin at the time, with a smile always on her face and long, lush eyelashes that were even more noticeable when she leaned against the windows of the astronomy tower to read.
The two met in the Astrology tower, she while reading and he while fleeing from the shadow of his father, who, like almost every night, tried to accidentally find him in some corridor to try to talk to him. Quickly, without either of them noticing, they became each other's favorite company.
She wasn't rude, self-centered, or boastful like most Slytherins. He was never self-interested, arrogant, or pedantic with her. They simply clicked, to the point where they had both given their hearts completely to each other, and it was like a silent promise, "Forever."
Since then, and without telling anyone, they were each other's other half, plotting thousands of plans, dreaming up futures that would possibly be uncertain, and falling in love with each other.
Snape found out first (no surprise there) While he followed poor Sev, even to find out how many times he drank his pumpkin juice. The repentant father wanted to make up for lost years, and when he saw his son kiss Miss Crouch's delicate hand on the stairs before entering the Christmas Ball, he knew something was up, and a fear he had never felt before took hold of him. She would hurt his son, just like Lily did to him.
He watched them dance all night. First, the first dance, slow, always looking into each other's eyes. His heart ached, an inexplicable pain. Was this what true love felt like? He saw them smile discreetly at each other, both shy of being seen (even when McGonagall saw them and smiled inwardly). Their hands clasped delicately but so firmly that even a troll's mallet could never separate them. Later, he watched them laugh and dance, sweaty, among the crowd, their laughter hiding between the loud music and the excited children's shouts only made Snape more and more curious. Why her? Why my son?
He waited a couple of days and this time he didn't intercept him "by chance," but almost kidnapped him in the herbology classroom to extract all the information and convince him to leave YN, a pretty and clever girl yes, but dangerous to be around. She was the daughter of a Minister of Magic and sister of a Death Eater. She wasn't good for him, but the only thing Snape achieved was to alienate his son further, making him resent his past traumas, always haunted by the ghost of the woman who never loved him and for whom he abandoned his mother.
One slap was enough for Sev to turn around and wish he'd never see him again.
Snape didn't mean to do this. He never wanted to push his son away or hurt him, but the thought of losing him permanently drove him mad. How was he going to explain that because of him, he and his mother were in danger, and if Voldemort returned and found out he was spying on both sides, the first person he wanted to kill would be his son, his everything.
Obviously, Sev didn't know this, and as he fled to the astronomy tower, trying to hide his tears behind his strands of dark hair, YN felt it. If Legilimency allowed mages to read each other's minds, YN and Sev had something, let's call it "Amorimancy," something that only they felt when the other did the same. If YN was happy, despite Severus cold face and silent demeanor, he inside felt inexplicably filled with joy. If Sev felt frustrated trying to find the answer to why his wormwood essence didn't react to a vulture's tears in his potion, YN felt stressed and irritated.
Something not at all strange, something that Professor McGonagall had explained to YN that same day when she saw her devouring books trying to interpret this feeling "It's called love, little girl. You and Severus are soulmates. You were born for each other, and no one will change that, when you are away from him, you will feel what his heart feels, and so will he, you should feel very lucky and value this gift that even the most powerful potion could not create in the heart. You and Severus were born with one tied to the other, and it will be that way forever."
That same night, she excitedly ran to the astronomy tower where they always met daily, despite the uncontrollable excitement she felt to be able to tell her beloved what she had learned thanks to her favorite teacher, her heart did not feel that way, it seemed that inside her, a cold and lonely storm was about to begin, and when she arrived, agitated from running so many stairs, she found her soulmate, he sat on the floor, hugging his knees as he sobbed softly.
"Sev?" she whispered, remaining standing while she caught her breath, trying to understand what was happening. She repeated his name once more, this time taking a few slow steps closer to him, without receiving any attention from him. "Are you okay? Sorry I'm late. I ran into Draco in the hallway and I couldn't get him away."
The pale boy only raised his face, illuminated by the moonlight, which made him look even whiter and highlighted the reddish mark on his cheek. She frightened, quickly kneeling down beside him, cupping his face delicately like a fragile and valuable piece of art.
"Sev, who did this to you?" Her small hand slowly tucked his strands of dark hair behind his ear, while he closed his eyes, remembering that moment, his tears rolling down until they were lost in his black cloak. "It was⦠your father, right?"
He focused slowly, looking out the window, ashamed of what had happened, not knowing how to tell her everything without making her feel guilty.
"If⦠if you want to tell me, I'll always listen." Her hand slowly lowered to his, taking it slowly. This action made the young man look at her with a combination of love and fear. "If you don't want to do it now, that's okay. Take your time, and when you're ready, I'll listen, okay?"
"You're not going to abandon me like he did, right?" His broken voice made her feel a knot in the center of her chest as she quickly shook her head.
"Never, Sev, have we made many plans, almost planned a life together, because you say so?"
''My father says it's dangerous to be around you⦠because of your father, your brotherā¦''
''Sev, you know that Barty and I don't talk at all, he's much older than me and he's always been cruel and mean, he has no reason to interfere in my life, he's not even part of itā¦''
"I know" Severus exclaimed making her jump a little "I know and I don't understand why he cares so much from one moment to the next about who i am dating or what becomes of your life, he ruined my mother's life because of a woman who never loved him, he ruined my life by abandoning me when it wasn't my fault and then wanting to appear to be a part of it and manipulate me into being unhappy like him, I hate that everyone thinks I'm weak and that I can't do anything for myself" his pale hands tangled in his black hair as he hid his face sobbing in helplessness
"I⦠I don't believe that" her legs relaxed a little making them rest stretched out next to his (which were much longer than hers) almost curling up next to him "I believe the opposite Sev, you are very brave, brilliant and with a single heart, I don't know what happened to your father or why he made those decisions, But I don't think he wants to hurt you either. However, if you don't want to see him again, remember that we only have one year left until we leave this place, and we will go far away together, always together, as we promised. I will never leave you or think that you are not enough, and it doesn't matter if you want to work at the Ministery or⦠selling potions in Diagon Alley, I will always be proud of you and I will be the proudest of you to see you achieve your dreams every day.
As McGonagall had explained, Severus, despite his immense pain, his heart felt relieved, little by little as she hug him feeling her heart beat beating slowly against his chest as she looked at him, while her soft hand caressed his face, wiping away his tears. The Amorimancy was doing its work again, her heart healing his.
That night, the kiss they shared no longer felt like two children in love playing hide-and-seek with their teachers; they both felt they belonged together, destined by the same heart that was born with half of the other.
But YN knew she had to do something, this time in secret from Sev, and that was to talk to Professor Snape⦠her father-in-law.
She waited for things to calm down a bit after Cedric Diggory's death and all the changes that had happened with the Dark Lord's return. After finishing her Potions class, she asked to talk about something (which Snape almost refused, but curious about how his son was doing, he accepted without showing interest).
As soon as the classroom emptied, Snape finished erasing the blackboard manually, even though he could have easily done it with magic they both looked into each other's eyes, YN felt a little curious, seeing Professor Snape like this, alone in front of each other, made her see that he and Sev were exactly the same. It was like seeing the man she loved in the future, a future in which she knew they would still be together, loving each other as much as they did today.
"Do you need something, child?" Snape hid his hands in his cloak, looking at her in an indifferent and challenging manner.
"Yes, I've come to ask your permission to continue dating Severusā¦" Her sigh, followed by a swallow, echoed off the walls of the dark hall.
"You, coming to ask my permission to date my son, that's never going to happen." His agile legs quickly descended a couple of steps, almost facing her, challenging her to a duel to the death. "You are the Crouch heiress, the Minister's princess. I know what classes like you are like, arrogant and self-centered. You only play with my son so you can have me dominated as a professor, but that's never going to happenā¦"
"You are wrong, I will not deny that my father loves me with all his heart, I am his youngest daughter, but I don't think that is an insult that you don't know about. I know that you love Severus equally, but calling me self-centered and arrogant? I've never shown myself to be one, even when I endure mockery and comments behind my back for being the daughter of an influential man, I endure and smile pretending not to hear anything so as not to prove myself to be something I'm not. I love Severus, as much as he loves me and whether you approve of that or not is something that will not come between us, we have one year here, one year to leave and never see him again, I know you're not doing this so I'll get away from him because I'm a bad option, in itself, in your eyes no one is suitable for your son, because he is perfect, he is your best creation and he is your whole heart, but he is also my heart and I promise you that I will take care of him and love him as much as you could if you would only stop behaving so cold and harshly with him. "
Snape's eyes looked at her, softening a little more with each second. That girl, much smaller than the Snapes, had him in the palm of her hand, ready to be crushed if she so desired. His heart was beating like a war drum. He studied her words carefully to find where to uncover her lies, but he gave up when he realized she had spoken sincerely from the moment she entered that classroom.
"Severus is an honest, kind man with such polished values āāthat it's scary to make a mistake in front of him. He's loyal, he's an excellent friend, and an irreplaceable human being. I know he brought that out of you, but deep down, he's still an abandoned child, who wonders daily what he did wrong to make his father leave his side⦠I don't judge you, because I don't know your reasons for doing so, but I know that something very serious must have happened for you to make that decision."
This time, Snape was speechless; his heart had already stopped. She had destroyed him with her words, and every word that came out of her mouth was one truth after another. It was exactly what he wanted for his son: a firm and direct woman, with a clear mind, who would lose her fear of fighting for those she loved, even if this person was the most feared by all the students.
He felt his legs tremble; she stumbled a little, holding onto her desk while covering her mouth, trying to hold back her tears. She had his little baby protected and loved, which he couldn't do for fear of being hurt, but she couldn't know what was happening. She was still a student, and his secret couldn't be revealed, not for now.
"Professor," YN ran to him, helping him hold on, worried.
"I wantā¦" His eyes fell on hers again. His furrowed eyebrows framed Snape's face, strange to see, worried, almost melancholic, and vulnerable. "I want you to promise me something."
YN look at him with attention, fearful and worried, as she held her professor's arm.
"You're going to take care of him, like I never did, and you're going to love him more than I could ever show him. He's my whole life, and when you both understand the reasons for things i do, I hope you'll forgive me."
"Professor Snape, I promise I'll take care of him and love him as I have until today. My heart holds no ill will for you. I know you love him very much, and that's why you did what you did."
Snape, this time, no longer saw her as a stranger, a uncomfortable student to see with her smile and flushed cheeks in the corridors.
Or worse, watching how a life between her and his son stars, wishing he were the one laughing with him and sharing moments among books learning about the best potions. This time, she was already part of his family.
His arms wrapped around her, almost covering her completely with his dark, flowing cloak, an intimate and almost familial moment.
She was now his daughter. Now, Snape's mind couldn't stop thinking about millions of things about the future, and how, if Harry Potter's prophecy were fulfilled, it might not allow him to see everything he thought and almost fantasized about.
He would miss the opportunity to meet his son again, hug him and tell him how much he loved him, how he could miss see him marry that brave girl and be able to see them dance again in love like in that christmas ball, he would meet his grandchildren, play with them and teach them how to make potions from their early years, life was giving him a new opportunity to have a family, but the prophecy was also putting him in danger of missing all of that.
